The enterprise and initiative of Total-Elf, partner of both the ING Renault F1 Team and Citroen Sport, today saw the recently-crowned four time World Rally champion Sebastien Loeb swap his seat with Heikki Kovalainen during a special promotional event at Le Castellet in the south of France.

Performing in front of a crowd of French and international journalists, the drivers needed no encouragement to get into the swing of things, and they spent much of the day in deep discussion as they fine-tuned their driving styles, each trying to find the limit of their machines.

Sebastien Loeb and Dani Sordo both got a taste of Formula 1 power at the wheel of the world championship-winning R26, victor of the 2006 FIA Formula 1 World Championship. Sebastien Loeb, already familiar with circuit racing after participating in the 2006 Le Mans 24 Hours, was delighted to have the opportunity to drive another car with title-winning credentials -- and thrilled with the experience as he climbed from the cockpit.

As for Heikki Kovalainen, he is a true Finn -- and that means rallying is in the blood. Today's test in the title-winning Citroen C4 was a special day for the man from Suomussalmi, as he took the wheel on a special stage near the Paul Ricard HTTT. What's more, he had a pretty useful co-driver alongside him, as Loeb took the second seat to provide the Finn a few special tips.

Sebastien Loeb commented at the end of the day: "Today has been a fantastic experience; if I'm honest, it's a little bit like Christmas come early! I have just become a father for the first time, I won my fourth world title last weekend, and now a dream has come true: driving a Formula 1 car for the first time. I was very impressed with the grip generated by the aerodynamics, which is radically different from what we are used to in rallying. I already knew Paul Ricard well from my testing before Le Mans last year, so it meant I could really make the most of today's opportunity. It was a truly exceptional day."

Heikki Kovalainen echoed the words of his fellow driver: "This was a wonderful day, and I had a great time driving Sebastien's car. I had previously been in this type of car as a co-driver, but this was miles better! I felt quite comfortable, even though the sensations are extremely different to what you feel in an F1 car. I talked a lot with Sebastien and Dani, and it was interesting to see how they controlled the car in the slow and high-speed corners, and learn from it. In return, I was able to give them some advice about the R26, and I hope they both enjoyed the experience."

McLaren desmiente que quiera repescar a Alonso

McLaren ha desmentido que quiera repescar a Fernando Alonso para la próxima temporada como se había especulado en algunos circulos para tratar de contentar a los patrocinadores que trajo el asturiano a la escudería británica.

En un comunicado, la escudería asegura que no ha mantenido contactos con el piloto o su agente para tratar de fichar al piloto por sólo una temporada.

he ING Renault F1 Team finished its 2007 test programme on the Jerez circuit this week. In accordance with the agreement reached last year between all the teams, a total of 30 000 kilometres private testing is allowed per team per season, so more than ever it is vitally important to optimise every lap. In January 2008, everybody will start from scratch and all the teams will again have a quota of 30 000 kilometres for the year. Below is the team’s schedule between now and the Australian Grand Prix.

- January 22-24: Valencia (first shakedown of the R28),
- February 1-3: Barcelona,
- February 12-14: Jerez,
- February 25-27: Barcelona

After the opening flyaway races of the season private testing will resume, and the teams will begin their development programmes. The ING Renault F1 Team has scheduled 8 sessions as follows - bearing in mind the fact that weather or technical priorities may lead to a change of plan.

- April 14-16: Barcelona,
- May 14-16: Paul Ricard,
- June 11-13: Barcelona,
- June 25-27: Silverstone,
- July 9-11: Hockenheim,
- July 23-25: Jerez,
- August 27-29: Monza,
- September 17-19: Jerez.

So three weeks before the start of 2008 the test team already knows its destinations. The logistics have been taken care of, plane tickets and hotel rooms have been booked. In every area of F1 success is not down to coincidence or luck. Organisation and painstaking attention to detail often make the difference.

Ferrari llega mañana a Menorca para entrenar en las pistas del Aeroclub
En enero volverá a practicar en Sant Lluís, al igual que lo harán las escuderías McLaren y BMW Sauber

La escudería Ferrari desembarcará mañana en la isla para probar sus vehículos de Fórmula 1 en las pistas del Aeroclub de Menorca.
El presidente del Aeroclub, José Luis Villalonga, confirmó que el equipo italiano llegará al mediodía y dejará sus camiones en las instalaciones que hay entre Sant Lluís y Maó.

El lunes lo dejarán todo preparado para celebrar las pruebas, que tendrán lugar el martes o el miércoles de la semana que viene dependiendo de las condiciones climatológicas.

Es posible que la escudería traiga a Menorca dos de sus monoplazas de Fórmula 1, lo que sin duda contribuirá a aumentar la expectación de los aficionados a este deporte, ya de por sí interesados en ver el equipo campeón del actual mundial.

Ferrari volverá a probar sus coches en el Aeroclub el próximo mes de enero, algo que también harán las escuderías Ferrari y BMW Sauber.
Villalonga calcula que hasta el mes de abril de 2008 pasarán por el Aeroclub unas siete escuderías de Fórmula 1, ya que aparte de las tres mencionadas, ya se han mostrado interesadas en venir Honda y Toyota.

Los entrenos serán siempre en fechas alternas para evitar las molestias a los vecinos del Aeroclub en la mayor medida posible. De todas formas, los días exactos dependen de la disponibilidad de los equipos.
