2009 Bridgestone e-reporter competition open for entriesOfficial Formula One tyre supplier Bridgestone has announced that their e-reporter competition for young aspiring journalists is now open for entries. As the contest enters its sixth year, the e-reporter initiative continues to provide students from across Europe with invaluable journalistic experience, also helping finalists to establish long-term careers in the media.
In 2009, Bridgestone will give 11 finalists, chosen by an international panel of judges, the opportunity to attend a GP2 Series or MotoGP race weekend. Whilst on-event the finalists will be able to interview top drivers and riders, writing articles that will be published on the Bridgestone website. Bridgestone is continually looking at ways to invest in the community and is very proud of the e-reporter programme and its achievements in terms of developing careers, explained Gerry Duffy, Vice President of Sales & Marketing, Bridgestone Europe. In 2008 we celebrated five years of e-reporter, and in 2009 we look forward to involving 11 e-reporter finalists in what will be an exciting year for Bridgestone across Formula One, MotoGP and the GP2 Series. It is also an exciting development to allow entrants to write in a choice of seven different languages, so we expect to see an increase in entries yet again this year. European students aged 18-30 and in full time education, on any educational course, have the chance to enter this unique competition. Whether entrants have a passion for motorsport, or are simply keen writers, they can submit their entry online anytime before Tuesday, March 31, 2009. Entrants are required to demonstrate their ability to write a newsworthy story and develop creative interview questions. Bridgestone is keen to make the competition as accessible as possible to students from all over Europe, opening up the contest by allowing this years entries to be submitted in English, Dutch, French, German, Polish, Spanish or Portuguese. The overall winner of this years e-reporter competition, chosen for their ability to represent the Bridgestone brand and demonstrate their journalistic skills, will be awarded with a laptop, plus further work experience. Previous winners and finalists have gone on to secure full-time jobs within the media as a direct result of their involvement with Bridgestone e-reporter and have come from all over Europe including France, Germany, Italy, Spain, Finland, Malta, Hungary, the Netherlands, Austria, Belgium, Poland, Switzerland, Ireland and the UK. For further information on the 2009 competition, or to submit an entry, visit www.bridgestone.eu/e-reporter. http://www.formula1.com/news/headlines/2009/1/8837.html -------------------- "El Foro es y será, siempre, mi Segunda Casa"

Tost: New rules tough on small teams
By Edd Straw Wednesday, January 14th 2009, 08:54 GMT Scuderia Toro Rosso team principal Franz Tost believes that this year's raft of Formula One rule changes will make it harder for the Italian outfit to repeat their form of 2008. STR finished sixth in last year's constructors' championship with 39 points and claimed their first victory in the Italian Grand Prix with Sebastian Vettel. But Tost has warned that adapting to the new rules will put the smaller teams on the grid on the back foot. "With this major overhaul of the technical regulations, the bigger teams will be able to reach much quicker than us because we simply do not have the resources," Tost told autosport.com. "If there is a problem with any of the new elements, the bigger teams can cope better than us. Small teams have a much easier time when there are no major changes and you have a technical status quo. "History has shown that whenever there is a major change in the sport, the big teams react quickest, leaving the smaller ones to catch up. It is hard to say whether we can maintain or improve on what we achieved last year." Tost was cautious about setting any performance targets for his team, especially with the Red Bull RB5-based STR4 not set to hit the track until March. "Toro Rosso had a fantastic 2008 season, with the team improving all year long. At the moment, we are working as hard as possible to prepare for the coming season. "A lot depends on how competitive our new car will be. And for 2009 there's a whole raft of new elements to take into consideration - the slick tyres, a different wheelbase, the KERS system and a completely new aero package. "In all these cases, the drivers will have to work with their engineers to ensure that they are in harmony with the new car to get the maximum from the package available. This year, that will be a challenge for the most experienced drivers on the grid." Toro Rosso will kick off their 2009 track activity at the Algarve circuit next week, with recently-confirmed race driver Sebastien Buemi driving a 2008 STR3. http://www.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/72768 ¡Que razon tiene! ![]() -------------------- "El Foro es y será, siempre, mi Segunda Casa"

Post-season testing also banned from 2009
New rules that come into force at the beginning of the 2009 season will ban all in-season testing, after unanimous agreement was reached between F1's 10 teams last year. However, it has recently emerged that not only in-season testing will be disallowed during the duration of 2009, but testing post-season has also been banned. The finer details of the testing ban were only confirmed to the press with the publication of the 2009 Formula One Sporting Regulations on Monday night. Under article 22.1, paragraph (d) of the regulations, testing has been banned between the week before the first race of the year, and 31st December of the same year, meaning the only track testing allowed will have to take place between New Year's Day and just prior to the first race. No track testing may take place between the start of the week preceding the first Event of the Championship and 31 December of the same year, the rule states. Although the winter testing season this year has been of vital importance, as teams aim to learn as much as possible about the new slick tyres, KERS and the all-new wings, with few regulation changes expected for 2010, the latest restriction in testing is unlikely to cause major dramas within the paddock. Teams will therefore only have from January to March to track-test any new ideas before the season starts, while Friday practice sessions on Grand Prix weekends will become the new breeding ground for team developments. Ironically, despite a reduction in the maximum number of testing mileage to 15,000km (from 30,000km in 2008), teams will actually be able to complete more laps during pre-season testing than in recent years. Five group tests are scheduled between now and the Australian Grand Prix at the end of March, and with each session likely to last for three days, teams will be permitted to clock up to 1,000km per day. That's up to 50% more than what some teams ran in early 2008. The new regulations still allow for 'free' young driver tests, which won't contribute to the team's 15,000km total, while promotional and demonstration runs will also be exempt. Fuente |

MERCEDES PODRÍA SUMINISTRAR MOTORES A HONDA
