de la Rosa to test at Prost? 31 Jan 2001


Having lost his seat with the Arrows team this morning with the announcement that the Leafield squad had signed Enrique Bernoldi, Pedro de la Rosa could be in-line for a testing job at Prost.
This may possible for various reasons, not the least of which is the fact that de la Rosa was engaged in serious negotiations with the French team as recently as the US Grand Prix concerning a drive for 2001.

At the same time, his business manager is quite close to Alain Prost, as he advised the Frenchman during part of his career.

Furthermore, with the lack of competitive drives available for 2001, de la Rosa may opt to take a testing role at an outfit that could provide some surprises next season, as they seem to have a package that appears, at the moment, both technically sound and fast.

It is also possible that if the rumours surrounding Mazzacane's conditional contract prove to be correct, and de la Rosa does takes on a testing role at Prost, the two drivers could "switch" jobs within the team if the Argentine does not perform competitively in the first part of the season.
