Renault protest Schumacher’s pole

The RenaultF1 team are planning on protest against Michael Schumacher after the Ferrari driver secured pole position before his F248 came to halt at Rascasse, causing the session to be halted while the rest of the field, including Fernando Alonso, to lose their final flying laps.
"I was three tenths up before that final corner so yes, I would have been on pole,” Alonso said.
After the session came to a close, leaving Schumacher at the top of the timesheets, Renault’s Pat Symonds and team boss Flavio Briatore stormed off to see FIA delegate, Charlie Whiting to protest against the Ferrari driver’s ‘cheating’
However, Michael has defended his actions stating that he locked up and the car ran wide, and as he tried to rectify the situation, his Ferrari engine stalled.
“I locked up in Rascasse and ran wide and unfortunately the car was stuck on the track,” he explained. “I tried to find reverse, but as the other cars were coming, I decided against that and then the engine stalled."
Michael’s pole will now be provisional until an investigation decides one way or the other.
