Sinceramente las presentaciones cada vez sirven para menos. Los coches de la presentación son muy diferentes a los que empiezan en australia, un poco por fechas(este año habrán 7 presentaciones en enero o más por las 2 del 2005, asi que podrán evolucionar el coche en pretemporada y cambiarlo) y otro poco porque no hay ganas de mostrar las ideas y la tecnología de el equipo. Las presentaciones sólo sivren para ver los colores del coche, los patrocinadores y los pilotos. Irónico que en la presentación de un coche se vea todo menos el coche XD.

Deutsche Telekom to join BMW?

There are reports that Deutsche Telekom is to join the BMW Sauber F1 team in 2008. This makes complete sense as the team does not have a telecommunications sponsor at the moment. Deutsche Telekom has recently terminated its sponsorship with the Neuer Strassen Sport cycle team as a result of the scandals that have done the sport serious damage and the company was looking for an alternative. It is not possible to join forces (again) with Mercedes-Benz because the McLaren team is now supported by rival Vodafone and so the second choice would BMW Sauber. It probably helps that former BMW executive and racing fan Prof Dr Wolfgang Reitzle is on the board of the telecommunications company.

BMW has not had a telecommunications sponsor since 2006 when it was involved with O2. At the end of that year O2 taken over by Spanish telecom company Telefonica.

McLaren Mercedes has amended plans to launch its 2008 championship campaign without an official presentation, reports on Thursday claimed.

Mercedes motorsport VP Norbert Haug confirmed to the German news agency SID that the new MP4-23 will be presented on 7th January at the Unterturkheim Mercedes-Benz museum in Stuttgart.

McLaren had previously announced that the car would appear for the first time at an exclusive test at Jerez in the second week of 2008.


Mercedes boss and parent company Daimler Chairman Dieter Zetsche is scheduled to attend the launch.

"I have a great relationship with the team having been with them for so long, right from my days in karting, and I'm ready to lead them on the track this year.

F2008: Description and technical specifications

Maranello, 6th January 2008 - The F2008 is the fifty fourth single-seater built by Ferrari specifically to take part in the Formula 1 World Championship.

The design, codenamed internally as the 659, represents the Scuderia's interpretation of the regulations in force in 2008. A major new element of these is the introduction of a new electronic system to be used by all teams, known as SECU (Standard Electronic Control Unit) and produced by MES (McLaren Electronic Systems.) It consists of a single control unit and a software system, the development of which ends as the season begins. Other areas affected by rule changes are: gearbox, which must be used for four consecutive events; safety, with the introduction of higher side protection around the driver's helmet; materials, with a limit to the type of composites that can be used. As a result of these rules, there has been an increase in the weight of the car. All aerodynamic surfaces have been completely revised, however the current version will be replaced by a completely different configuration in time for the first race. In fact, an intensive and all encompassing development programme is planned to run throughout the season. The monococque has been further cut away under the driver's legs and the side pods and engine cover are more tapered. The suspension system has been reworked and developed around the new aerodynamics.

The wheelbase and weight distribution have been adapted to meet the challenge of the new regulations and on the basis of lessons learned last year in terms of the performance of the Bridgestone tyres. Changes to the technical and sporting regulations in terms of electronics, alongside the introduction of the SECU, have led to the removal of a host of a driver aids, such as traction control and engine breaking and the electronically assosted starting system, and also mean that management of the differential, engine and gearchange are much simpler. The gearbox casing is produced in carbon, while the transmission continues to be mounted longitudinally. For the second consecutive year the gearchange is fitted with a quick shift system, adapted to the SECU software and further speeded up. In dealing with the reliability aspect of the new regulations, Shell has played a key role in defining the lubricants for the gearbox. The braking system has been updated with new callipers and innovative concepts regarding cooling.

The 056 engine is mounted longitudinally and continues as a load bearing element. Its basic structure remains unchanged compared to the unit homologated at the start of last season, while its auxiliary systems, air and fuel intakes have been further developed. The technical regulations also call for the use of fuel corresponding to European Union norms, with a content of components derived from biological sources equal to 5.75%. As usual, during the design and development stages of the entire car, our technical partners played an important role. Apart from previously mentioned significant input from Shell , also worthy of note is the contribution of the Fiat Research Centre, especially in providing simulation systems and Brembo for its work in developing the braking system. As is now traditional, a great deal of attention was paid to the performance and optimising of the materials used at the design stage and through quality control, striving to maximise performance levels while attaining the highest possible safety standards. Ferrari: Hamilton may struggle with no TC

Ferrari's team manager Luca Baldisserri believes Lewis Hamilton could have a tough time coping with the new regulations banning driving aids.

Traction control will be banned from this season, meaning several drivers, including Hamilton, will race in Formula One without it for the first time in their lives.

Hamilton enjoyed a stunning debut season last year, going on to finish second in the championship, but Baldisserri reckons the McLaren driver will have a tougher time without driving aids.

The Briton raced without traction control in GP2 in 2006, when he went on to clinch the title.

"I think that, with these new regulations, Lewis Hamilton may have a rough time," Baldisserri was quoted as saying by Gazzetta dello Sport.

"For sure he won't be able to carry on driving the way he has, and even though he raced and won in GP2 without traction control, he was on different tyres."

Baldisserri also believes Formula One has gone back ten years due to the introduction of the new rules, but he thinks the show will benefit from it.

"Despite the safety problems associated with engine management have been solved by now, there are still some doubts on reliability," he added.

"You only need to look at the functionality on the steering wheel to realize we've gone backwards by ten years. But I think this is the right route especially if the spectacle will be better, which I hope it will."

When asked what will change this year, he added: "The start, for example: up to now it was 20% down to driver's ability and 80% electronics, while now it will be the other way around.

"The tyres will wear out in a different way and it will be hard to manage them, so we'll have to rethink race strategies. Most of all, without electronic aids it will be harder to regain control of the car after making a mistake."

Mutua Madrilena still a McLaren sponsor

Spanish insurance company Mutua Madrilena remains on the McLaren drivers' overalls for now, despite the company having announced at the end of last year that they will not sponsor the British team in 2008.

The Spanish group announced in a press release in December that they were ending their sponsorship deal with McLaren, who they had backed since Fernando Alonso joined the team.

However, despite their own plans, the Mutua Madrilena logo was visible on the sleeves of all of McLaren drivers' overalls during the launch of the team's new car in Germany.

A McLaren spokeswoman made it clear that as far as the team were concerned, the sponsorship deal was still ongoing.

"They are still a team sponsor," a team spokeswoman told autosport.com.

Mutua Madrilena is currently sponsoring an exhibition with all of Alonso's racing cars in Madrid, Spain.

The two-time champion has returned to Renault for the 2008 season.

Tras escuchar el enlace de Yossi, hay algo muy preocupante que ya sabemos desde hace tiempo: Pedro es incapaz de decidir por sí mismo como piloto. Por muy McLaren que tengas, un piloto quiere correr y si lo que está haciendo es cubrirse las espaldas para el futuro, que deje ya de alimentarnos las esperanzas de seguir corriendo...En cierto sentido, está jugando con nuestras ilusiones y no lo veo correcto...

Creo que ya es tarde para que Pedro se de cuenta de que en McLaren lo valoran, sí, pero no como piloto, que es lo que es él, y no un probador. El rol de probador par aun piloto tiene que se siempre una vía a corto/medio pazo para conseguir algo, como Piquet, como Kovalainen, etc... pero Pedro en este punto ya ha perdido su tren y lleva tiempo sin luchar por volverlo a alcanzar...

Es una pena...pero no puedo compartir su punto de vista: no sé puede jugar a ser piloto cuando parace sólo interesarte salvaguardar tu futuro. Di que tu carrera como piloto titular en F1 está acabada como hizo Panis y listo. Luego, ya vendrá lo que sea, pero no estés alimentando la ilusión de miles de personas con declaraciones que no te crees ni tú...

No, NO habia desaparecido, solo que me ha costado mucho digerir esta.

Volviendo al tema F1...

ALUCINANTE EL FERRARI... me lo he mirado 50 veces y no se si será eficaz o no... pero lo veo hecho, fabricado y diseñado al milimetro se nota que hay curro ahí!!! a simple vista y como impresión me ha dado miedo!!! Y BONITO BONITO!!! mmm.. no el más bonito pero mmm ... me gusta.

En cuanto al McLaren ... aparentemente no ha cambiado demasiado, veremos si eso es cierto o no y como se traduce eso en pista. (espero más fotos)

En cuanto a las palabras de Pedro... mmm igual de sensatas que siempre; aunque leyendo según que opiniones... parece que aquí uno PUEDA ELEGIR VOLANTE!!! ... NO TIENE VOLANTE OFICIAL OTRA VEZ... que hace se pega un tiro?... NOOO sigue pilotando en uno de los mejores equipos del mundial (mas o menos sus palabras)

Lamentable el patrocinio de MM y el Santander...

Es una temeridad porque solo puede reportarles imagen negativa...

Por otra parte, el coche no me ha sorprendido. Tiene un morro mas afilado y largo aparentemente, lo demas prácticamente calcado al 22. La entrada de aire de los pontones parece estar muy trabajada.

De todas formas, al igual que Ferrari, éstos modelos cambiaran alerones y apéndices para el mes de Marzo.

Yossi, no sé como lo haces, pero si alguna imgagen de F1 está disponible en el mundo, esa la pillas tú.
Ya puestos, a ver si encuentras fotos o videos de F1 en Montjuic y te marcas un tópic, luego me mandas una foto firmada y la pongo en la mesita de mi habitación .
Volviendo a la presentación, nunca he sido ferrarista, ni por asomo, pero que diferencia: grandiosidad, opulencia, lujo (no había visto tantos trajes de Hugo Boss por m2 en la vida), arrogancia, enfín, delirios de grandeza en la presentación de Mclaren. Ferrari, con tejanos, sudadera y ... a trabajar!
Lo siento, pero la imgagen de tex-mex entre británico cosmoputita (¿se dice así?) y germánico hortera-triunfador que proyecta Mclaren Mercedes, me ha dado náuseas. Supongo que tendré que ir al psicoanalista, pero la pasta que meten ahí los de Mclaren sólo para la presentación, con tanto ejecutivo guais viviendo del cuento, igual serviría para montar 500 escuelas y 100 hospitales en Somalia. Me da asco, lo siento. Lo del bronceado de Ron Deanís ya es definitivo: un tío de + de 60 años, que para la presentación del su equipo se hace un lifting, se broncea, va al gimnasio a perder los 3 kilitos que le sobran.. a ver, ¿a quien quiere impresionar?. Las mujeres que son más perspicaces seguro que ya se han dado cuenta que éste tiene un rollo con una jovencita... o a lo mejor es que quiere parecerse a Hamilton, lo digo por lo del bronceado.
Vale, dejo de divagar, pero hay cosas que me revuelven las tripas y la grandilocuencia, entendida como la necesidad de marcar diferencias con el resto, a fin de cuentas, los que mantenemos el tinglado, me pone enfermo.

Respeto tu opinión Kalbinsky pero tampoco es justo que critiquemos el dinero que se gasta un equipo en su presentación, tengo entendido que Mclaren no pensaba hacer nada, fue la casa Mercedes la que quiso una presentación de su nuevo coche, y tampoco es para tirar cohetes, sobretodo si la comparamos con la que hicieron el año pasado en Valencia, en cambio en aquella ocasión, poca gente criticó la millonada que se gastaron.

P.D; acabo de recibir un aviso de noticia, y me asombra el titular: McLaren 'regala' a Hamilton un nuevo coche por su cumpleaños.

Es tendencioso cuanto menos, hasta donde yo llego todos los equipos estrenan coche cada año, a santo de que viene decir que se lo regalan a Jamiltón?, alucino.

Ferrari F2008: presentado con el número 1.

McLaren MP4-23: presentado con el número 23.

Me encanta. Por todo lo que significa. Una gran lección para McLaren. Veremos si son capaces de aprenderla.

Comparto además el criterio de Kalbinsky respecto a las presentaciones. La de Ferrari del año pasado ya me encantó: taller y pista, ropa de trabajo para trabajar. La de McLaren de este año al menos no es hortera como la del año pasado pero sí pomposa y fría, como la imagen del equipo desde que Ron Dennis es Ron Dennis.

(Por otra parte... menuda tirria le ha cogido la gente a Hamilton... al final van a conseguir que no sólo le considere un piloto fuera de serie, como hasta ahora, si no que además le adore -por llevar la contraria . Por cierto, a Raikkonen -para lo poco que muestra él sus sentimientos- se le ve cómodo, feliz. Me encanta esa foto con Piero Lardi Ferrari).

Mike Watt, no le pillo el look setentero al F2008... pero la macchina bella es bella ... ¿Algún modelo en concreto al que te recuerde?

Anoche en las noticias de Cuatro alcancé el éxtasis escuchando el sonido del motor del F2008 al arrancar y salir por primera vez a pista desde los boxes de Fiorano . ¿Mono de carreras quizá?

En cuanto a las presentaciones, hasta el pasado año, McLaren hacía unas presentaciones más bien pobres y muy discretas!!! mucho más que otras escuderias mucho más pobres, por no decir que algún año eran incluso comparables a la de los peores equipos, solo faltaban ganchitos y pan bimbo con nocilla. Pero la memoria histórica también es corta en este sentido.

Bueno, a Massa le agradecían públicamente su labor en Brasil sacrificándose por Kimmi, y él mismo lo dejaba caer en la rueda de prensa post-GP...un título con órdenes de equipo (no entro a si deberían estar prohíbidas o no en este momento), no es muy limpio. Lo que pasa es que con tanto lío Hamilton-Alonso-RD-espionaje etc., el tema apenas se ha comentado. Bueno, o apenas se ha comentado por otro motivo, pero fue evidente que Massa no luchó por la victoria para que ganase su compañero el título, y como ya digo , se reconoció y agradeció públicamente.

Lo que quiero decir con esto es que menos "lecciones" porque aquí todos los equipos están haciendo lo mismo, y me parece muy cínico ahora rasgarse las vestiduras.

KIT aqui hay algo que no entiendo, la afirmación de que Pedro tenía muchas oportunidades para salir de Mclaren es tuya, o te haces eco de mensajes de otros foreros?.
No te voy a negar que en un primer momento dije en voz alta que Pedro se marchara de ahí, estaba demasiado triste para verle otro año en el banquillo, luego pensando con frialdad llegué a la conclusión de que si sigue ahí es por una causa muy poderosa, y el bienestar de su familia creo que es suficientemente fuerte como para hacerle seguir, (lo cual para mi es más que loable, que conste).

AC99, McLaren no ha reclamado esas supuestas órdenes de equipo que sugieres y mira que no les cuesta mucho reclamar (véase lo de la gasolina) para ganar el título. Una vez más eso son nada más que suposiciones y sobreentendidos. En mi opinión Raikkonen ganó porque estuvo tres vueltas más en pista que Massa para el último repostaje y rodó muy rápido en ellas, justo como en Magny Cours donde, curiosamente, nadie dijo nada.

Por cierto, yo no me he rasgado ninguna vestidura.

La negrita la pongo ahora y con ella me refería precisamente a Tyrrell, Honda, y otros que seguramente olvido. Por cierto, la única descalificación a Ferrari que soy capaz de recordar se comentó no hace mucho en el foro (alerón asimétrico de Villenueve -Gilles, of course- en el 82):

No, no digo que no hemos hecho trampa, si la hemos hecho, tenemos nuestro castigo, lo estamos pagando, y lo veo justo.
Lo que me jode(con perdon), es que ferrari diga todo lo que dijo de mclaren y Ron(ojo, no defiendo a mclaren ni a Ron), Como si ferrari fuera el equipo santo, victimas, como si NUNCA hubieron hecho absolutamente ilegal en este deporte. como dijo el forista antes, me parece un cinismo sin precedentes. desde que sigo la F1, todos las verguenzas, tristezas, trampas, decisionas de la FIa con beneficio directo, fue Ferrari. es que toda la verguenza da la ultima decada, es Roja, y algunas tan descaradas que la vimos en directo. El que este libre de pecado, que tire la primera piedra, y Ferrari, desde luego, no esta libre de pecado.

Ahora bien, que lo han puteao, lo han puteao, y eso lo sabemos todos, las cosas como son. Que tenga o quiera quedarse es otro cantar, pero que le hicieron la puñeta, vaya si se la hicieron.

Pedro sabe como anda todo... y a estado al tanto, que lo acepte no quiere decir que lo esten puteando. El sabía que había y que no había. La decepción no cuenta como puteo... y lo digo yo que todavía no lo he digerido. Por eso quiero "apartarme" del tema personal de Pedro y centrarme en lo deportvio y real y la realidad es que, seguimos de tester y que las oportunidades se reducen año tras año... eso no quiere decir que no se haya trabajado en la linea correcta para conseguirlo.

Kit, pero lo mas triste de todo es que nadie parece, y digo parece porque no lo sabemos, haber preguntado por Pedro.

¿Realmente un piloto de su categoeria no puede encontrar un asiento en F1?, o es que desgraciadamente ¿el dinero lo es todo?.

Fisico se lo ha currado y asiento al canto. Si, una castaña de coche, pero pilotando esta, y si Pedro a comentado mil veces que prefiere ser tester en un gran equipo a piloto en uno mediocre. Pero, ¿no seria mejor acabar en la pista?. Esto lo tambien lo dijo, en su momento, quizas le dejen un gran premio para poder retirarse.

En fin, todo da mucha pena. McLaren no se merece una persona de su categoria.
