Me alegro por ti Pedro!!! Eres un pilotazo que de ninguna manera podía dejar este circo sin tener la oportunidad de conducir uno de los mejores coches durante varias carreras.

Yo se lo que puede pasar con algo de suerte que tengas. Simplemente demostraras estar a la altura de los 5 mejores del mundial y sacarle el 100% a tu coche porque no se si hay pilotos con tu CALIDAD, EXPERIENCIA, CONOCIMIENTO DEL COCHE, GANAS, CAPACIDAD DE TRABAJO……………

Que el año pasado estuvieras hay el viernes también esta a favor tuyo, el entrenar (cosa q no hace Kimi) en Jerez preparando el GP….Lo tienes todo de cara, lo único malo es q hay un coche rojo y otro azul q van mejor pero estamos todos convencidos q con el 100% q le vas a sacar al coche seras capaz de liarla!!!

Los tios Ron, Norberto, Martin y compañía saben q eres la mejor opción no solo para este año sino para los q vengan como compañero de quien venga (llámese Alonso….) pero claro en el equipo de un país falto de figurines hay presiones: mediatica, publicitaria…

Yo ya me llevé la gran decepción el año pasado cuando subieron a Würz después del carrerón de Pedro, y cuando volvió Montoya precipitadamente en Cataluña cuando Pedro se hubiera salido...no me fio nada.

Ya sé que esta situación es diferente y más favorable a Pedro, pero hasta que no haya confirmación oficial por alguna de las partes (lo de que Pedro es titular hasta final de temporada lo dicen algunos periodistas), yo sólo sé que es titular en Francia y ya veremos. En la página de McLaren sigue apareciendo como Test Driver, aunque es cierto que le han movido su nombre de sitio y aparece a continuación del de Kimi.

Crucemos los dedos y esperemos una mezcla de suerte y buen hacer para ver a Pedro hasta el final de temporada, y la siguiente con volante oficial.

McLaren aims win at Magny-Cours

The McLaren Formula 1 team has yet to win its first race this season. A few times they were close, but while the team is being outpaced by Renault in the first half of the season they still aiming for a victory.




Speaking about the upcoming race Martin Whitmarsh, McLaren F1's CEO, said about their main aim: "As always winning is our aim and, with all the hard work the team have done, we are pushing very hard towards achieving that result. The MP4-21 has made a step forward, and we hope that at France, which is of course Michelin's home race, we are able to demonstrate this."

Whitmarsh is also confident Pedro de la Rosa, replacing Montoya, can do well for the team. "Everyone within the team welcomes Pedro to the race car this weekend, who has completed more than 9,500 test kilometres in the MP4-21 to date. We completed a comprehensive test programme last week at Jerez and now have one more session remaining before the August break. The work completed will allow us to bring online developments to the cooling package. The test team have an intensive work load and are pushing the development programme forward as we seek to find the performance enhancement we need from the MP4-21."

2006 FRENCH GRAND PRIX PREVIEW
The 2006 Formula 1 Championship returns to Europe this week following the two North American fly-away races. France is the location for the 11th Grand Prix of the season.

Pedro de la Rosa will join Kimi Raikkonen in the race driver line-up for the French Grand Prix, as Team McLaren Mercedes and Juan Pablo Montoya have mutually agreed for him to step down in the forthcoming races of this year's Formula 1 World Championship. Pedro will make his second race appearance for the team following a thrilling points scoring debut in the 2005 Bahrain Grand Prix.

100 years ago, France was the location for the first automobile race to be called a Grand Prix. On 26th June 1906 32 cars set-off at 90 second intervals on the circuit, which was formed of public roads. The race lasted for two days over a distance of 1,238 km. The race, which was staged near Le Mans, was won two years later by Christian Lautenschlager, clinching the first Mercedes victory in the event. The four-cylinder engine of his car had a displacement of 12.8 litres and an output of 135 bhp.

The French Grand Prix has also been a permanent fixture on the calendar since the start of the Formula 1 World Championship in 1950, with the exception of 1955. The race was initially run at Reims where Mercedes-Benz took a one-two victory with Juan Manuel Fangio and Karl Kling on their return to Grand Prix racing in 1954. The French Grand Prix then alternated between Rouen, Reims, Clermont Ferrand, Paul Ricard, Dijon-Prenois and Le Mans before moving in 1991 to its current home at Magny Cours.



KIMI RAIKKONEN
"The team has been testing really hard last week, and we will be bringing new parts to the car for the French Grand Prix. The car felt good at Indy and with our strategy we would have secured a couple of solid points finishes. Magny Cours can be quite a challenging track to set-up for, because its characteristics change a lot, probably more so than at most other circuits. However I quite like driving here, it seems to suit my style and I hope we can have another good race this year. It is a slow track, with low speed corners, hairpins and no major straights, it is a total contrast to the previous three circuits we have raced at. Magny Cours has a smooth surface, with no bumps and less kerbs, as a result we can run with more front wing and a lower ride height, as the car is less upset by kerbs and bumps. You tend to generate high tyre temperatures here, so blistering can be a problem, this is because the track gets very hot during the day due to the blackness of the asphalt. The track also has reasonable grip levels.

"I'm of course extremely thrilled to have this opportunity to race the MP4-21 – a car in which I'm really comfortable. People don't always link it to Magny Cours, but you can overtake here, you just need to make sure your set-up allows you to do so. The only real place to do it is by getting good speed along Golf, the stretch between Estoril and Adelaide. You need to take Estoril really well behind the car ahead, and this needs to be considered when you are working on set-up. If you get the right set-up you can then push the limits through the sweeping Estoril and have the speed you need in order to pass. Most things about Magny Cours are fairly medium in nature from the downforce, brake severity to tyre wear. Another characteristic of the track is the number of corners, and this means it can be quite physical if it is hot."

"It was bitter to lose both cars already at the second corner after the start of the US Grand Prix at Indianapolis. The three races before the team had shown an upward trend. We had a chance of winning in two races and finally claimed three podium positions. A podium would have been possible also in the USA, not least because of our tyre choice and our one-stop strategy. At Magny Cours our aim is to continue that trend and we all welcome Pedro at his first race since Bahrain last year. Our last test at Jerez was positive and we now have to improve in order to win races. A focused and concentrated process will help to achieve our targets.”

Si ganas la gp2 te la dan, si haces 50 Vueltas con un f1 tambien te la dan. Pero tener no tiene licencia para correr en el mejor equipo de la F1, al menos necesita dos mil kilometros de tests.

Los seguidores de Juan Pablo Montoya quizás no tengan que esperar demasiado tiempo para volver a ver en acción al ya ex piloto de Fórmula Uno.

Una vez McLaren ha comunicado que el contrato con el piloto colombiano ha sido anulado por un valor de 3 millones y medio de dólares, el propietario del nuevo equipo de Montoya en la NASCAR, Chip Ganassi, ha comentado que intentarán que Juan Pablo inicie cuanto antes su nueva etapa en Estados Unidos.

Si se confirma que McLaren ha pagado esa cantidad para tener a otro segundo piloto en lugar de Montoya dudo que sea para ir jugando al juego de las sillas con el segundo puesto.

Veo que como Pedro lo haga mínimamente bien, puntuando regularmente para el equipo, tiene el puesto fijo. Pero es que además estoy convencido que estará al nivel de Kimi, incluso superándole en más de una ocasión, seguro.

Ok, entoces es imposible que Hamilton a día de hoy sustituya a Pedro a menos que gane la GP2...
Por cierto, espero que Pedro aproveche la oportunidad que tiene sabiendo que seguro no va a ser su única oportunidad, ya que Paffet es indudable que no lo va a suplir, espero que se tome las cosas con calma, pero a cuchillo, no se si me explico, no hace falta que vaya como Gené cuando le dieron el Williams, pero que no se aloque como Pizzonia. Y por supuesto, que no quepa duda, que no lo estoy comparando con ninguno de los 2 pilotos, pues Pedro es mucho mejor que ellos, es sólo una comparación de actitudes opuestas y que creo que se debe mantener en un termino medio teniendo en cuenta que Magny Cours no tiene las escapatoria que tiene Bahrein...

Ahora yo creo, que tenemos que estar todos tranquilos. En principio está Pedro hasta fin de temporada, y es normal que salgan rumores y rumores. ¿No los había hace unas semanas con Montoya y con Pedro? Pues ahora es normal que los haya con Pedro y Hamilton.

Si no querían en un principio subir a Hamilton al McLaren el año que viene, habiendolo supuestamente ya pilotado y probado, imaginaros este año, no sería lógico. Yo por eso estoy bastante tranquilo.

Los seguidores de Juan Pablo Montoya quizás no tengan que esperar demasiado tiempo para volver a ver en acción al ya ex piloto de Fórmula Uno.

ELMUNDO.ES.- El español Pedro Martínez de la Rosa afronta a partir del viernes la mejor oportunidad de su carrera deportiva. Más de un año después de su último Gran Premio de Fórmula 1, el de Bahrein de 2005, el barcelonés volverá a pilotar un monoplaza oficial de McLaren. Y lo hará hasta final de año: ocho pruebas en total.

De la Rosa tiene cuatro meses por delante para intentar convencer a Ron Dennis, patrón del equipo McLaren, de que puede ser el compañero de Fernando Alonso en 2007, siempre que Kimi Raikkonen abandone la escudería. El hasta ahora probrador de McLaren lleva más de un año sin competir, pero como él mismo afirma, conoce el MP4-21 "mejor que nadie".

Desde que debutó en el Gran Premio de Australia de 1999, De la Rosa ha disputado cuatro temporadas completas y 63 carreras, aunque sólo logró acabar 27 de ellas. A pesar de su prometedor debut en Melbourne, donde partió en 18ª posición y acabó sexto, su mejor resultado no llegó hasta dos años después, en la temporada 2001. Acabó el Gran Premio de Italia en quinto lugar.

Cuatro años después, en el Gran Premio de Bahrein de 2005, repitió el quinto puesto y protagonizó algunos de los mejores momentos de la carrera. En sus ocho años de experiencia en la Fórmula 1 ha sido piloto de Arrows, Jaguar y McLaren, escudería con la que firmó un contrato de probador a finales de 2002. Desde entonces lleva más de tres años esperando su oportunidad para volver a tener su propio volante. Una oportunidad que se le presenta ahora, con 35 años de edad.

De la Rosa sustituirá a partir de este fin de semana al colombiano Juan Pablo Montoya, que fue apartado del equipo después de anunciar que la próxima temporada cambiará la Fórmula 1 por la serie NASCAR. El español, que disputará su Gran Premio número 64, tiene ocho carreras para intentar mejorar los 26 puntos conseguidos por Montoya en las 10 primeras pruebas de 2006.

En sus casi ocho años como piloto de Fórmula 1, De la Rosa sólo ha conseguido 10 puntos, cuatro de ellos con McLaren en la temporada 2005. Nunca ha subido a un podio, pero en el Gran Premio de Bahrein de 2005 marcó la vuelta rápida en carrera. El circuito francés de Magny-Cours es uno de los que mejor conoce. Aunque nunca ha puntuado en el Gran Premio de Francia, ha logrado acabarlo en tres ocasiones y en 2002 consiguió un meritorio noveno puesto al volante de un Jaguar-Cosworth. Será la quinta vez que dispute la prueba francesa.
