Monza, la catedral del automovilismo, el templo de la velocidad, todos los tópicos que queráis, para mí, el circuito más carismático del mundo. En el GPL es una de las pistas más populares y “fáciles” en la que siempre hay carreras on-line disponibles y casi siempre con parrillas a rebosar. Por lo que respecta al pilotaje Monza trata sobre todo de velocidad pura (frenar tarde, acelerar pronto) y, por encima de todo, de precisión.

Aunque a primera vista pudiera parecer una pista sosa al tener tan pocas curvas, la verdad es que Monza tiene una gran personalidad y además, con esta configuración, un ritmo precioso. Por otra parte es la gran catedral del automovilismo y por ende de la velocidad al ser, incluso con las criminales chicanes de hoy en día, uno de los circuitos más rápidos del mundo. Servidor, que ha tenido la suerte de visitarla, sólo puede decir que aún me emociono al recordarla: el peralte sigue allí, desvencijado y viejo y también el muro en Della Roggia, tal y como aparece en el GPL y el ambiente te dice que estás en un sitio especial, el “autodromo” por antonomasia.

En Monza, como buen circuito ultrarápido, el secreto es pisar a fondo el máximo tiempo posible. Para lograrlo lo más importante es la salida de las curvas y no tanto la entrada, hay que prestar atención, obviamente, a las curvas que desembocan en las rectas más largas, a saber (por orden de importancia): la segunda Lesmo, la Parabólica y la Curva Grande. Otro cosa a tener en cuenta para lograr un buen tiempo es alargar al máximo las revoluciones y no cambiar a una marcha superior hasta que la aguja llegue a la zona roja, es más peligroso para la vida del motor, pero al menos para las calificaciones, se lo puede uno permitir.

En la recta de meta (yo suelo meter quinta justo tras pasar por la línea de meta) iremos a fondo pegándonos bien a la izquierda para la Curva Grande. Para esta curva freno un poco antes de las marcas de neumáticos en el asfalto (donde se ve un camino auxiliar de asfalto a la derecha de la pista) y reduzco a cuarta sin soltar apenas el acelerador. La cuestión es mantener tanto gas como se pueda a través de toda la curva. Tras la frenada (cortísima) y la reducción de marcha, hay que controlar el pequeño coletazo y pegarse al bordillo (sin tocarlo, claro) y dar tanto gas como sea posible. Se sale de la curva muy a la izquierda, con grave riesgo de tocar el césped (que normalmente provocaría una salida de pista por el lado contrario) pero aun así hay que salir en cuarta casi casi a tope de vueltas y dirigirse hacia la derecha de la pista para trazar el siguiente giro en Della Roggia el cual se pasa a fondo y habiendo metido quinta justo antes de trazarla. No tiene mayor problema.

Desembocamos entonces en una pequeña recta que finaliza con la primera Lesmo, una curva a derechas bastante complicada para mí. Es difícil juzgar el punto de frenado (más o menos por donde las marcas en el asfalto) pero hay que frenar fuerte y, sobre todo, bajar de marchas (hasta segunda en mi caso) tan rápido como sea posible. Para pasarla rápido hay que aprovechar para colocar el coche al soltar el freno y dar gas a la vez, ajustándose al bordillo y con cuidado con los quitamiedos a la salida. Una vez más, demasiado gas demasiado pronto y es fácil perder el control. De todas formas esta curva es de las “no importantes” así que recomiendo usarla para ir concentrándose para la segunda Lesmo, la curva más importante del circuito para lograr un buen tiempo.

Como curva de las importantes más vale frenar demasiado pronto que demasiado tarde, lo imperativo es salir bien, recto y con posibilidad de dar gas a fondo en seguida. Para ello yo suelo frenar algo antes de una mancha muy oscura en el asfalto, no hace falta frenar demasiado ya que no se llega a mucha velocidad (yo sigo en segunda desde la primera Lesmo). El sistema es el mismo que en la curva anterior: colocar el coche al soltar el freno y dar gas para equilibrar, salvo que en ésta hay que ir con más cuidado no porque sea más difícil (de hecho es algo más abierta) sino porque es más importante para el tiempo por vuelta. Cuidado en la salida con la prisa al dar gas y también con el seto a la izquierda.

Ahora llega la zona rapidísima: muchos segundos con el pie en la tabla hasta llegar a la Parabólica. Yo suelo meter tercera en Serraglio, cuarta al comenzar la bajada para pasar bajo la zona peraltada que no se usa, y quinta al subir justo antes de Ascari. Ascari es una de las curvas más divertidas y emocionantes del GPL al ser en quinta a fondo. Es importante afrontarla desde bien a la derecha y girar antes de lo que el instinto te dice. El secreto es pegarse bien al césped por el interior a la izquierda y, aunque parezca una paradoja, girar lo menos posible. Para ello, enderezar el volante en cuanto se pueda y usar toda la pista, incluyendo la pista auxiliar que se une a la principal por la derecha a la salida de la curva (cuidado con el quitamiedos).

Una vez pasada Ascari seguimos a fondo hasta la Parabólica, la curva más difícil del circuito y la segunda más importante. Para abordarla nos pegamos bien a la izquierda y empezamos a frenar a la altura de un cartel de publicidad que está de espaldas a la izquierda, reduciendo en mi caso hasta segunda. De todas formas es preferible, como en la segunda Lesmo, frenar un poco antes de la cuenta (aunque tampoco mucho ya que venimos de la “recta” más larga y hay que aprovechar la velocidad máxima), ya que bloquear las ruedas en frenada suele significar un recto y la arena de la escapatoria es muy “pegajosa”. Otra dificultad, aunque no hayas bloqueado las ruedas, es meter el coche en la curva, yo lo hago, cuando me sale bien, buscando el interior pronto y, a partir de ahí, una vez que se ha soltado el freno con muchísimo cuidado ir dando tanto gas como sea posible muy muy cuidadosamente. Es una curva que se abre luego te va pidiendo que le des cada vez más gas pero, repito, con mucho cuidado, esta es otra de esas curvas que es imperativo no fallar. Una vez rectos para la recta de meta dar gas a fondo, con cuidado al salir por la izquierda de la pista con el quitamiedos rojo, apurando al máximo las marchas. En calificación, no meto quinta hasta que no he cruzado la línea de meta.

Tras una semana en el dique seco nos enfrentabamos "al circuito", la catedral de l a velocidad, el asfalto pasando a 310 km/h frenadas de espanto... el nerviosismo era patente en el box, a mi se me veia nervioso, como encabritado, siempre que venia a este circuito notaba un cosquilleo especial. Mardor estaba sentado en su monoplaza... y ogle... uhmmm ogle... vaya otra vez saliendo de la puerta de su motorhome... y con cara de ... un dia voy a mirar dentro de su motorhome a ver que es lo que tiene alli.... :twisted: :twisted: :twisted: .
Como en las ultimas carreras los mecanicos llenaron el deposito a tope de combustible... Aquello parecia una bañera... Arranque sintiendo la configuracion del coche, talvez junto a Spa es donde se siente mas la potencia de "la cosa verde" cada apreton al pedal se transmitia sobre todo el coche pasando al asiento y de hay a mi espalda... una sonrisa se dibujo en mi rostro y sali.. desde la primera vuelta marque un buen tiempo e intente mantener ritmo de carrera, en el box los mecanicos me decían que pisara un poco mas que un marciano estaba en la pole y que intentara apretar... la verdad es que no pude.. :x por una u otra razon siempre la pifiaba en algun lado... era el preludio. Juan Luis me dio el banderazo y me dirigi a los boxes... a diferencia de otras veces mis mecanicos estaban alrededor de ogle... ¿le habra pasado algo?... Pero que hace aqui la FIA-PDLR... pero porque le estan sacando sangre?... ¿Porque le mira asi el boss?.. me acerque un poco y le vi gritar a ogle

Alli estaba yo mirandole riendome a carcajada limpia y felicitandole... QUE GRANDE.. menudo tiempazo... y que callao se lo tenía... (sigo pensando que tengo que mirar su motorhome ).

Tras unos segundos que pasaron como milesimas vimos que todos los coches estaban ya en la parrilla, corri al coche me acople... espere... Por delante todo normal.. la pista... los coches... (vaya ... ya esta el de la banderita ...odiendo el paisaje)... :ladrillo: pero quita de ahi... anda que.... Bandera.... como siempre mi coche parece un utilitario.. no se ni los que me pasan... pero todos vamos con un cuidado de ordago... trazamos frenando todos... yo en particular, no me siento nada comodo.. Comienza el espectaculo Ogle, tiene un buen ritmo de carrera, pero sabe que su coche hace extraños y permite un adelantamiento limpio.. Mi sensacion es extraña, voy como un caballo loco, se que tengo un ritmo de carrera bueno, no tengo el mejor tiempo, pero soy capaz de mantener toda la carrera sin problemas en 29 medio e incluso bajo, lo noto... me voy acercando a los 3 primeros, hoy me siento genial... que ganas tengo... sigo acercandome... tengo tantas ganas.. que la pifio y medio trompeo grrrr, :cabezazo: en el box me piden que me tranquilice pierdo una posicion... me enfado... no puede ser.. vuelvo a colocarme detras de ogle.. no es un espejismo, esta aqui.. jejej me alegro mucho y continuo.. vuelve a facilitarme el paso aunque estoy seguro de que me costaría pasarle si quisiera. Sigo pisando, me ritmo creo que es muy bueno cuando de repente me doy cuenta de que algo pasa delante... Fran se ha salido.. o eso parece , le paso.. no lo se , pero se me avecinan una de las carreras mas emocionantes que he vivido (solo comparable a una mantenida con Julian) que pasada, con trompo incluido voy tercero, pero no solo eso, si no que delante esta una bala rosssssssssa, es memo, se que voy mejor que el, le voy pillando, aunque en las partes dificiles se me escapa, que bien va el tio, pero yo tengo "la cosa verde" me acerco , me acerco :drake: me pongo el cuchillo en la boca y me lanzo como un poseso.. llegando a la parabolica .... DIOSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS pero que haces tan cerca... si soy yo que me paso que me paso..... se abre me voy por el interior... lo corrijo, lo corrijo... nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo memo me pasa y grita PEDROOOOOOOO :aplauso: :aplauso: :aplauso: :aplauso: (Genial memo) tengo que ver eso a camara lenta , fran me da un toquecito que me enfila, pero no consigo que no pase F399, me estoy empezando a enfadar y a poner nervioso, como es posible.. vuelta a perder posiciones, no puede ser, agarro el volante con mas fuerza, en la siguiente vuelta vuelvo a pasar a Fran, y me coloco detras de F399, por fin, otra vez en duelo.. me preparo a disfrutar, al igual que con memo voy a la caza y captura :disparo: en una vuelta lo enfilo y lo tengo a tiro, dios voy como una moto, lo siento, y el coche es una maquina... y llega otra vez mi fallo, no me lo puedo creer , el tercero, pillo el rebufo de Julian, acelero, voy como siempre, pero me imagino que las ganas y el rebufo hacen que vaya un pelo mas rapido, el coche pilla verde... y seto... no me lo puedo creer... otra vez no... caigo hasta la octava posicion.. es imposible ... me entran ganas de llorar, es imposible lo que me esta pasando.. se que no quedan muchas vueltas para el final, aprieto los dientes, una vuelta, otra, Ese es Pepe, se abre en la primera curva aprovecho y le hago un interior.. 7º no esta mal... para salirme 3 veces, pero... espera, esta javier carral mas adelante... y si?????.... :latigazo: piso un poco mas al coche, le pido un poco mas... se queja pero me lo da... que GRANDEEE, a final de recta de meta paso como una exalacion junto a javier... 6º.. buaaa que carrera, no me lo puedo creer, tengo el corazon a 200, solo veo asfalto, frenadas, y ... un casco Rosa???????... OGLEEEEEE, pero que hace aqui?... Genial... el equipo estara super contento... pero la verdad es que vengo lanzado, tengo un cabreo que no me tengo, quiero que la carrera dure 100 vueltas mas.. no tiene que quedar mucho, de hecho estamos en la vuelta 19, me acerco un poco mas... el coche de ogle sigue haciendo de las suyas, pero va rapido , mi mayor miedo... en las curvas frena demasiado y desaparece... vuelta 20... voy pegado a ogle... me da miedo.. y la verdad es que por un momento pienso en que se merece la 5ª posicion mas que yo... se que me lo ha hecho facil.. pero vengo muy caliente, me coloco "detras"... ( en este campeonato decir esto es muy duro) e intento presionarle un poco , (eso todavia suena peor) :fundido: y finalmente le hago un interior, que por supuesto estoy seguro me deja la puerta abierta por sus problemas de conexion... entro en 5ª posicion... con sabor agridulce, doy una vuelta mas, veo un ferrari, creo que es Julian y le levanto la mano para felicitarle. :tercero: llegamos a boxes, ogle entra conmigo.. todo el equipo se nos echa encima, Ogle esta euforico Mardor esta un poco mas serio pero veo que en su mas sana envidia va a felicitarle :twisted: :twisted: :twisted: :twisted: :twisted: yo me retiro pensando en que ha sido una de mis mejores carreras, tal vez, como algun idolo comun en bahrein.. adelantando y adelantando y cometiendo errores y vuelta a adelantar... la verdad es que la posicion me es igual.. la carrera ha sido genial...

Qué gran carrera en Monza. Por fin un buen resultado para mí esta temporada y por fin una buena carrera para mí en Monza después de tres temporadas resultando carreras anodinas para mí. Después de ver esta mañana la repetición comentaba con Ogledalo que no me podía creer que fuera yo el que disputaba el podio a Franky y resistía sus ataques. Antes que nada darle las gracias por una lucha inolvidable más (a unir a las del Jarama y Watkins Glen del año pasado). Una gran enhorabuena también a Grego Liñán pues tras varias carreras de mostrar su velocidad por fin pudo rematar la faena y, cómo no, a Lesmes, por otro podio más para la Scuderia Paquetown y por su gran ayuda este fin de semana para llegar a ser medianamente competitivo en esta pista en la siempre he resultado mediocre.

Como ya escribí aquí, durante el fin de semana entrené a tope, espoleado por los buenos tiempos de Chema y de Ogledalo, esos 29 bajos me sacaban de quicio y, con ayuda de Memo, descubrí que mi problema era frenar demasiado pronto para la Curva Grande, una vez localizado el problema y tras mucho entrenar, logré un milagroso 1:28,86. Para los entrenos sabía que me costaría llegar a tanto pero tenía una remota esperanza, al menos esperaba marcar un 29 bajo o, como mínimo, un 29 medio. Tras un rato de calificación, Memo, Grego Liñán, Chema y Ogledalo habían pasado todos a los 28 marcando respectivos PB y yo seguía anclado en un decepcionante 29 medio… Por mucho que arriesgué no tenía el día inspirado y me quedé con esa marca en P8. Enhorabuena a ellos por esos tiempazos.

Para la carrera, como ya conté también, estaba decidido a ser muy conservador, necesitaba acabar para recoger puntos, sobre todo tras desilusiones tan grandes como Ímola y Mónaco. Durante la pachanga del lunes había comprobado que tenía un ritmo bastante bueno, rodando cómodo, sin forzar, seguro. Ahora sólo necesitaba concentración máxima y no meterme en líos. Mi estrategia era clara: nada de locuras, mis trazadas, mis puntos de frenada, nada de forzar el motor y, sobre todo, acabar. Para ello necesitaba concentración máxima, y la logré. Pero aún no sabía la carrera que me esperaba…

Vuelta 1

Salí bastante bien y superé a Pilotillo en su Honda en la aceleración. Seguía cómodamente a Thund hacia las Lesmo cuando Carral salió de mi rebufo como una auténtica bala tras Della Roggia y me ganó el interior en Lesmo 1, era la primera vuelta y no quería problemas así que le dejé todo el sitio que pude y me dispuse a seguirle. Llevando él el Cooper no era muy difícil así que me pegué tras él, sobre todo en Ascari. Al llegar a la Parabólica por primera vez (con mucha precaución, siempre se dan accidentes en el primer paso por allí) Chema cometió un pequeño error saliendo largo lo que aprovechó BlackJack para superarle, yo busqué también el hueco en el interior pero mi cuñado me pegó un cerrojazo con todas las de la ley y tuve que bloquear las ruedas frenando para no tocarnos. En la recta de meta, gracias a la velocidad del Lotus volvió a pasar a BlackJack.

Vueltas 2 y 3

Sigo a BlackJack por la Curva Grande, bien cerca de él. Detrás llega fuerte el Lotus de Pepe Mompo, pero sólo le veo en los espejos en la frenada para Lesmo 1, se tira muy fuerte al interior y, asustado y creyendo que se va a pasar, le dejo todo el hueco que puedo, pero me abro demasiado y toco los quitamiedos. Pierdo impulso y Xavy se me echa encima con otro Lotus, se pega a mí en Ascari pero no consigue mi rebufo, me concentro y dispongo a trazar más fino aún para poder distanciarme. Al final de la vuelta estoy en P9. He perdido una posición respecto a la de salida. Pero gracias a mi concentración consigo alejarme de Xavy y seguir teniendo a la vista a Mompo y BlackJack.

Vueltas 4, 5 y 6

BlackJack se sale en la Parabólica, sin duda por forzar tanto para mantenerse con un Cooper tan alto (bravo). Ya estoy en P8. Comienzo mi persecución a Mompo. Sigo sin forzar, simplemente rodando a mi ritmo, pero cada vez estoy más cerca.

Vuelta 7

He salido mejor de la Parabólica y le cojo el rebufo a Mompo, le adelanto frenando más tarde en la Curva Grande y me concentro muy mucho para hacer una vuelta perfecta y poder alejarle, lo consigo, y además, ya estoy en P7.

Vuelta 8

De nuevo al llegar a la Parabólica veo que Chema se ha salido y ya tengo a la vista a Thund y a Ogledalo. P6.

Vueltas 9 y 10

Thund ha debido pasar a Ogledalo porque le tengo a la vista, se sale al final de la décima vuelta en la Parabólica y gano una posición más: P5.

Vuelta 11

Por delante de mí, ya a la vista, ruedan Franky y Thund. Éste último intenta un ataque a Memo en la Parabólica y pierde el control, Franky le toca pero sale por delante, estoy cerca de él al pasar por meta en P4.

Vuelta 12

Sigo a Franky con su Honda de cerca, a mi ritmo, sin arriesgar. Sin embargo falla en la Parabólica e intento meterme por el interior pero se recupera rápido y prefiero no arriesgar. Pero le cojo el rebufo para la recta principal.

Vuelta 13

Me salgo de su rebufo tras pasar la meta y me la juego por primera y única vez en la carrera en la frenada para la Curva Grande, le adelanto sin pasar demasiado miedo pero seguro de que ahora empezará su contraataque. (De hecho creo que éste y el que le hice a Pepe Mompo en el mismo sitio han sido mis primeros adelantamientos como tales, “conscientes”, en mi carrera gepelística).

Busca el hueco interior en Lesmo 1 pero mi punto de frenada es lo suficientemente tardío como para seguir por delante. En Ascari coge mi rebufo sin contemplaciones y se queda con el exterior en la recta para la frenada de la Parabólica. En este momento es cuando más miedo paso pues no sé muy bien dónde empezar a frenar desde el interior, así que improviso y por suerte resisto por delante para pasar por meta por primera vez en la carrera en posición de podio. Increíble.

Vuelta 14

Thund, que venía detrás de Franky, le pasa en la Curva Grande y pasa a presionarme él, sobre todo en las Lesmo, pero aguanto.

Vuelta 15

Thund vuelve a presionarme en las Lesmo, quiere ganar mi rebufo a la salida de la segunda pero toca el seto y Franky le vuelve a pasar.

Vueltas 16 a 19

Franky vuelve a rodar pegadísimo a mí. Como ya me ha demostrado en carreras anteriores que sabe hacerlo, intento no ponerme nervioso y seguir rodando a mi ritmo, sin intentar nada nuevo, sin forzar, procurando sobre todo marcar muy claramente mi trazada ideal y sin variar mis puntos de frenada, sé que mi ritmo es bueno y que si me pasa habrá de ser por méritos suyos. Eso sí, me propongo no quedarme nunca más en el interior para la frenada a la Parabólica.

En la vuelta 16 intenta superarme por el interior de la Parabólica, yo le pierdo de vista así que trazo toda la curva por el exterior, pero con decisión. Cuando embocamos hacia la meta, salgo delante. Me concentro al máximo y en la vuelta 17 marco mi primer 1:29 de la carrera, lo que me da cierto margen para rodar la vuelta 18 sin agobios (la hago en 1:30,0). En la penúltima vuelta tampoco está lo suficientemente cerca para intentar nada y además me marcó mi vuelta rápida de la carrera (para que veáis qué concentración llevaba). Aún así sabía que la última vuelta sería dura.

Vuelta 20 y última

Pero no hasta ese punto… Al ser la última vuelta no quiero arriesgar nada y pierdo velocidad en la Curva Grande así que se me pega por Della Roggia y busca el interior en la frenada para Lesmo 1. De nuevo no consigue pasarme pero sé que está ahí y que lo voverá a intentar. Así que freno bastante pronto para Lesmo 2 porque no quiero arriesgar nada, si me tiene que adelantar que me adelante pero lo que no quiero es perder el podio por un fallo propio. Como digo, salgo algo más lento que Franky de Lesmo 2 y en seguida está a mi rebufo. Se mete en el interior llegando a Ascari, no le veo al llegar a la curva, pero sé que está ahí así que la trazo por el exterior. ¡Pasamos Ascari, en quinta, a fondo, en paralelo! Afortunadamente para mí salgo por delante y, sin dudarlo un segundo busco el exterior para la frenada de la Parabólica, su última oportunidad, él está en mi rebufo y se sale de él para buscar el interior en esta última frenada. Sé que está ahí a mi derecha pero no le veo. ¡Carrerón histórico el de esta edición!
Así que no me extraña que el circuito de Monza haya recibido denuncias y quejas () con tanto ruido como descargáis...

Toca los acostumbrados "enhorabuenas y felicitaciones", pero resulta difícil ir colocando y nombrando "posiciones de honor" ante una carrera como ésa, que nos llenó de sorpresas y puso de relieve algo muy importante: la tenacidad, espíritu de competividad y el placer de disfrutar con este "simulador" pilotando lo pueden todo (o "casi" todo)

Hubo "triplete" Ferrari en casa. Grego Liñán fue el campeonísimo de la noche: POLE, PODIO y VR ¡Enhorabuena!
El equipo Paquetown reveló definitivamente que hay que andarse siempre con cuidado con ellos . Memo, hecho una fiera logró ese 2º escalón del podio . Julián, uno de los grandes protagonistas de las delicias de los espectadores. Su terrorífico duelo con Franky (¡QUÉ ALEGRÍA! ) entusiasmó y le condujo triunfal a pisar ese tercer escalón. ¡Felicidades merecidas! Lo cierto es que esto a mí no me sorprendió mucho: a pesar de tu "desánimo" (muy justificado, cómo no), yo tenía total confianza en que lo superarías y que en Monza, además, brillarías como merece la voluntad y perseverancia que pones en tu trabajo .

¡Sorpresa de la jornada! ¡Por fin Tito Ogle se convierte en "el rey de la noche"! Verdaderamente un triunfo deseado: hiciste un carrerón y demostraste lo que puedes. ¡Qué tiempos marcaste, bandido! (lástima esos "parpadeos", sino... lo mismo te subes también al podio!!)

¿Y bien?

ENHORABUENA al imparable señor súper Carral por llegar una vez más hasta ese 1er escalón del podio, al señor WellMaster por ocupar el 2º (¡¡¡¡SÍ SEÑOR!!!!, el baño de cava pa ti hoy) y al Mega pilotillo Pilotillo (que vuelve por sus fueros y nos deja babeando...)

Bueno, para compensar, esta vez me salió una carrera bastante mediocre, al estilo de Ímola. No estuve en ningún momento en mi papel.

Todo comenzó ya en los entrenos. Sin razón aparente parecía haber perdido mis referencias de frenada y, lo que es peor, la fluidez y el ritmo para negociar la pista que tan bien había adquirido en los entrenos de este fin de semana. Desanimado vi que no conseguí bajar del 1:35,09 que me situaba en una decepcionante P10.

La salida fue extraña pues no recordaba dónde se ponía Juan Luis, y cuando le localicé, bajó la bandera, pero dudé si la estaba subiendo o bajando, pero como observé que todos los de delante salían pues salí, me mantuve muy a la derecha y, como veía a mi izquierda a alguien, tuve que recortar T1. Aun así mantuve la posición y seguía cómodo a los que me precedían. Todo fue muy tranquilo la primera vuelta y hasta adelanté al que me precedía (un Lotus, creo) en la frenada tras la recta principal.

Pronto vi aparecer a Franky por mis espejos y le dejé pasar pues aprecié que iba mucho más rápido que yo y, como digo, no me sentía en forma para una lucha agotadora como la de Monza. Se demostró que tenía razón pues se distanció rapidísimamente.

Entonces vino el meollo de mi carrera, tenía a Xug y otro par de pilotillos por detrás, pero a cierta distancia. Le mantenía allí sin problemas pues rodaba a cierta distancia y no intentaba nada raro para meterme el morro ni nada. Tras mantenernos así varias vueltas, al salir de la horquilla (la zona que más hay que vigilar si llevas un Eagle detrás para que no te coja rebufo para la recta más larga), mirando los espejos para ver por dónde andaba me fui a la tierra casi en la cima de la colina con lo cual no pude seguir acelerando para poder regresar a lo negro y me pasó. Sabía que podía mantenerme tras Xug pues no me había superado con facilidad así que en ello me concentré, esperando algún error.

Pero empezó a complicarse la cosa. Tras una vuelta o así, al llegar a la horquilla nos encontramos el Lotus de Xavy Guillén mirando para donde no es y totalmente parado. Xug lo esquivó con habilidad pero yo dudé y casi me paré completamente para finalmente rodearlo por el exterior. Como consecuencia de esto Xug se me fue totalmente y ahora tenía a Katana pegado a mí junto con otro pilotillo.

Pude aguantarle unas cuantas vueltas hasta que, sospecho que cuando los neumáticos empezaron a resentirse, me fui un poco largo en Druids y toqué tierra lo que aprovechó Katana para pasarme. Qué depresión, menuda carrera patética me estaba saliendo. Seguí a mi ritmo y una bandera amarilla me indicó que Katana había cometido un pequeño error. Iba lento en la subida a la curva ciega que desemboca en Druids, me eché a un lado para superarle y cuando creía que ya lo tenía, la rueda trasera izquierda se montó en el terraplén y sentí algo extraño, pensé que hay acababa todo, Katana me pasó y aguanté como pude al Lotus que venía detrás para la siguiente frenada fuerte antes de meta.

El coche ahora se comportaba muy extrañamente, sobre todo en frenada y además, tenía que ir con mucha prudencia porque no sabía muy bien cómo reaccionaría en cada curva. Para complicarlo más aún, tenía a Chema con el Lotus detrás con aviesas intenciones... Me esforcé a tope en las zonas en que el coche se comportaba “normal” y en las demás mantenía el coche como podía a base de contravolantes y demás malabarismos. Por suerte, me esforcé especialmente en salir rápido para la recta principal y que Chema no me cogiera el rebufo y, como sólo quedaban tres vueltas, la cosa funcionó y acabé en octava posición, peor de lo que esperaba pero suficiente.

Ya me notaba yo raro... Así que, crónica escrita antes de que acabara siquiera la carrera...

En entrenos notaba raro el coche, apenas podía engranar quinta en la recta de atrás, no me salían mis tiempos. Así que recalibro el volante y descubro que no había calibrado bien el acelerador. Rezando para que no empiece a fallar de nuevo el volante, lo calibro todo de nuevo y salgo a calificar. Enseguida logro un 22 medio que es lo que esperaba y ya me doy por satisfecho con P5. Pero sigo sin notar el coche bien, ahora lo noto muy "picudo", demasiado gas... No sé qué pasa y me cuesta pasar sin problemas la curva tras el montículo. No estoy ni mucho menos como en los entrenos del fin de semana.

Preocupado por todo ello, vuelvo a recalibrar de nuevo y a comprobar los setups antes de la carrera.

Salgo bien y mantengo mi posición, en la primera vuelta dos salen de excursión y paso meta en P3. Esto marcha.

Pero pronto todo se frustra. Al siguiente paso por la curva tras el montículo no controlo bien el coche y toco la tierra haciendo un trompo, me reincorporo bien, eso sí, en sexta posición. Así paso otra vuelta, aguantado sin problemas tras Manel y por delante de Seninha.

Pero en la quinta vuelta, empiezan a verse banderas amarillas en todas las curvas. En la curva tres estoy a punto de salirme pero consigo controlarlo. Pero en la siguiente, en la bajada para la frenada para Moss, hago el idiota y me quedo mirando al de delante y luego a uno que se ha salido, pierdo el control y me voy al césped. Intento esquivar el quitamiedos para no perder una rueda pero no lo consigo... fin de la carrera. Un desastre.

Se demuestra una vez más, que a la mínima distracción, en mi caso los "problemas" en entrenos, te desconcentran para toda la carrera y no hay manera... En fin, una pena, porque había preparado la carrera muy bien y me veía con posibilidades de acabar bastante arriba, incluso en el podio. Qué cabreo...

¡Un podio en el Ring! Apenas si me lo creo aún. Lo cierto es que me lo tomo como un regalo ya que no me vi merecedor de ello, simplemente me limité a rodar intentando acabar. Son muchas frustraciones ya esta temporada (Ímola y sobre todo Mónaco y Mosport donde me veía luchando por el podio por méritos propios) como para afrontar el reto del Infierno Verde de otra manera. Había mucha gente mucho más rápida que yo aquí y lo sabía (Danich, Dido, Seninha, Franky, Lesmes, Manel...) así que veía muy difícil hacer un buen resultado. Además estaba nerviosísimo así que tan sólo pensaba en acabar, nada más.

En calificación me fue bastante mal, como digo estaba nervioso y no rodé ni parecido a lo que he estado haciendo en mis entrenos privados. En la vuelta lanzada además me econtré con Chema delante de mí y ya me acabé de desconcentrar, me dejó pasar amablemente (¡gracias!) y tan agradecido estaba que frené tarde en uno de mis puntos fatídicos (la frenada para la curva a derechas de Hatzenbach) y trompeé. Intenté no cometer más errores en la vuelta y más o menos lo hice (siempre se hace algún que otro pequeño fallo en una vuelta tan larga) y logré un modesto 8:42. Mi primer objetivo, calficar más bien arriba, no se cumplía (P9) pero, como ni tan siquiera con mi PB hubiera escalado muchas posiciones pues me conformé y me dispuse a hacerlo lo mejor que pudiera desde allí.

La salida me fue bien, en un primer momento había pasado en la arrancada a Katana que estaba a mi izquierda pero me eché encima de Pilotillo que estaba delante de mí y me abrí hacia la derecha, eso me hizo perder impulso y buena posición para afrontar T1, finalmente además de no ganar posición alguna me adelantó Franky. Así, tras las primeras curvas seguía al grupo formado por Katana, Pilotillo y Franky por este orden, por detrás nadie me inquietaba así que pude seguirles de cerca sin más que los problemas típicos para mantenerse en la pista.

Pero pronto comenzó la maldición de la cuesta arriba hacia Adenauer Forst (Fuchsröhre), en este primer paso pasamos a Manel que se había salido allí. Seguí tras Katana, Pilotillo y Franky sin más incidencias hasta el Karussell, allí Katana se salió del peralte para fuera y Pilotillo trompeó, así que Franky cogió la cabeza del grupo mientras que yo superé a Katana y a punto estuve de hacer lo propio con Pilotillo, sin embargo me venció la prudencia y seguí tras él. Desde allí vi al final de la vuelta como Pilotillo adelantó a Franky en la larguísima recta previa a la zona de meta. Bueno, tras una vuelta rodaba en P6, no estaba mal.

En la segunda vuelta seguíamos más o menos igual hasta que, cómo no, al llegar a Adenauer Forst me encuentro con Pilotillo volcado y Franky también por el césped, yo, por no ser menos me salgo por mirarlos y hasta le doy al pobre Pilotillo por si no tuviera bastante... Lástima que el golpe no le valiera para darse la vuelta... Como consecuencia de este incidente Katana vuelve a pasar a encabezar el grupo y yo paso por delante de Franky, además Manel se une al grupo por detrás... Nervioso con tanta gente alrededor y pensando todo lo que queda aún de esta vuelta (queda mi muy temida zona en bajada rodeada de setos) decisiva para puntuar, me propongo dejar pasar a Franky, que me parece mucho más rápido que yo. Lo hago en la frenada para la curva a izquierdas anterior a dicha bajada y es cuando descubro que Manel nos sigue, no habrá tranquilidad posible. Muy concentrado en acabar la vuelta, observo sorprendido como mantengo a la vista sin mayor dificultad a Franky mientras voy perdiendo por atrás a Manel. Pero llega el susto de la carrera cuando en la horquilla previa al Karussell freno mucho más tarde del sitio adecuado por despiste y me voy recto sin remisión hacia el seto. Tengo una inspiración y giro a la izquierda para esquivarlo, choco con el “muro invisible” del GPL así consigo al menos no quedarme atrapado en el seto que es lo que más temía (tenía que acabar esta segunda vuelta como fuera para puntuar). Me recuerdo gritando ¡NO! Como digo, puedo seguir aunque detrás de Manel ahora. Sin embargo pronto le tengo a la vista y estoy bastante cerca de él al pasar por meta por segunda vez: objetivo cumplido, aunque ahora ruede en P7.

Todo siguió igual (grupito Katana, Franky, Manel y yo) hasta... ¿lo adivináis? ¡Sí, Adenauer Forst! Esta vez es Franky el que se sale allí y Manel le pasa, yo no puedo hacer otro tanto pero me pego a sus escapes. Así rodamos bien juntitos. En la bajada de los setos es Memo el que se la da y nos regala una posición más. Justo pasada esta zona, es Franky quien se sale justo en el mismo sitio donde tuvo su trágico accidente Lauda (Bergwerk) quedándose en el césped en el mismo sitio, así que gano otra posición... Ahora vuelvo a seguir a Manel, le tengo a la vista, pero no lo suficientemente cerca, por suerte para mí, porque tras un trompo de Katana justo tras el pequeño salto del final de la zona rápida antes del Karussell (Kesselchen) ambos chocan volcando Manel y quedando Katana descontralado. Yo esquivo a ambos (milagrosamente a la velocidad que pasé) y ganó dos posiciones de una tacada. Ahora ruedo totalmente en solitario sin nadie a la vista y me concentro en ver si puedo rodar limpio para que no se me acerque quienquiera que sea el que me siga. Lo voy haciendo bastante bien hasta que me como el quitamiedos (por suerte de frente) en la chicane de antes de la meta. Paso por tercera vez la meta en ¡P3! Tengo a Dido lejísimos y a Katana a cinco segundos por detrás...

Así que la última vuelta es una lucha contra mí mismo y contra el Ring. Me convenzo de que si no hago ningún error de bulto Katana no me alcanzará y aunque sé que no puedo coger a Dido, comienzo a rodar como si pudiera, más que nada por concentrarme a tope. Una eterna última vuelta mirando a los espejos cada dos por tres (por suerte no podía llegar a ver a Katana por un pelo) a pesar de estar todo el rato diciéndome “no mires los espejos, no mires los espejos”. En fin, hice una vuelta bastante buena (la mejor de toda la noche) sin ver a nadie y crucé la meta (no sin antes tener un buen susto en Tiergarten) en una magnífica tercera posición.

Quisiera dar la enhorabuena a los compañeros de podio (que me sacaron una gran distancia como cracks que son) y en general a todos, porque el Ring es un reto impresionante y me gustó mucho ver el alto número de pilotillos que acabaron. También quisiera destacar a Ogledalo por su espíritu gepelero máximo al acabar la carrera en las condiciones en las que acabó, a Calamarr por su magnífico sexto puesto (su mejor resultado hasta la fecha ¡y nada menos que en el Ring!) y a mi cuñado Chema que gracias a su gran “gepelitis” y a su empeño al entrenar está empezando a hacer buenos resultados y ha logrado su primer puntillo “extra” al lograr la mayor remontada.

Pero yo creo que hay que presionar mucho más a nuestro Wellmaster Dido: tiene demasiado repetido ya ese 2º escalón del "poyo" (del latín, Podium ). Además, eso le acercará en la clasificación al indomable Javier Carral y hará que Danich corra con "la lengua fuera" para que no se le escape demasiado. ¡Hurra por competitividad!
