CITA(Raul Leiva @ Nov 1 2013, 12:05 PM) *

http://www.motoryracing.com/formula-e/noti...formula-e-2014/

ABT Sportsline to compete in Formula E under Audi Sport banner

ABT Sportsline, led by Team Principal Hans-Jürgen Abt, has today (15 November) reached an agreement that will see it become the seventh team and the only German outfit to enter the new FIA Formula E Championship competing under the banner Audi Sport ABT Formula E Team.

Were proud to have the opportunity to take part in the debut of this new racing series. Participating in the new FIA Formula E Championship marks a completely new chapter in our more than 60-year motorsport history, said Hans-Jürgen Abt. As a company that has been active in the field of regenerative powertrains and electric mobility were convinced of the series concept. Its innovative, delivers motorsport at the highest level and a great show for fans around the world all of which are a perfect fit for ABT Sportsline.

The outfit, from Germanys Allgäu region, will race under the name of Audi Sport ABT Formula E Team, based on the name used in its successful commitment as an Audi factory team in the popular international touring car series DTM.

Head of Audi Motorsport Dr Wolfgang Ullrich commented: Weve been watching this new project of the FIA with great interest and are delighted that ABT Sportsline as one of our close and long-standing partners will be involved right from the beginning. Were keeping our fingers crossed for the squad on tackling this new challenge and are planning to support its commitment with drivers from our factory line-up if required.

The agreement was signed by Hans-Jürgen Abt and Alejandro Agag, CEO of Formula E Holdings, in Kempten, Germany. Audi Sport ABT Formula E Team will now be put forward to the FIA for final approval as the seventh outfit to enter the new global electric race series. They join IndyCar outfits Andretti Autosport and Dragon Racing, Asias China Racing and Super Aguri and fellow European squads Drayson Racing and e.dams.

With five titles to its credit in the DTM alone ABT Sportsline is one of the most successful German teams, which has achieved victories and titles in GT and endurance racing as well. The commitment in Formula racing now also marks a return to the outfits early days. At the beginning of the 1990s, ABT scored its initial successes in Formel ADAC and Formula Three. One of the drivers back then was the subsequent Formula One and DTM star Ralf Schumacher. Weve been keen to embrace new challenges on many occasions in the past. Formula E is no doubt one of the most intensive ones, which makes our excitement about it even greater, added Hans-Jürgen Abt.

Alejandro Agag said: Were delighted to welcome the Audi Sport ABT Formula E Team into the championship, our seventh of 10 teams and the third European outfit. Formula E is very much an open championship and a platform for teams to showcase their own fully-electric cars, so to have one of the most successful German motorsport teams with the support of a big manufacturer on board is a fantastic addition to the series. Im sure German racing fans will also be particularly pleased as they now have a home team to support during the Berlin Formula E race.

TV Asahi acquires Japanese broadcasting rights for Formula E

TV Asahi have today (29 November) announced the acquisition of the exclusive Japanese broadcasting rights for the FIA Formula E Championship.

The multi-year agreement will see the Japanese network show live coverage of all Formula E races - together with extensive coverage of the practice and qualifying sessions - across its terrestrial, satellite and cable channels. Based in Tokyo, TV Asahi boasts a network of regional channels and a potential reach of 51.4 million households, largely thanks to its coverage of major sporting events. It is now regarded as one of the most popular and widely watched networks in Japan.

TV Asahi has acquired the exclusive rights to the live broadcast of the new FIA Formula E Championship in Japan, said Hiroshi Hayakawa, President of TV Asahi. This will see a return to motorsport for us since the 24 Hours of Le Mans in 2003. For us, the striking difference of Formula E compared with existing motorsport events is their attempt to adopt new features such as the real-time gaming directly connected to the race and Push-to-Pass linked with the SMS platform - both elements which embrace the next generation of broadcasting.

He added: In a world where a new structure of TV broadcasting is demanded, we are convinced that Formula E has the content which appeals not only to the existing motor sport fans but also to the youth generation that fully utilises multimedia. Moreover, we have great hopes that Formula E will be an exciting new content for the terrestrial, satellite and cable channels after our organisation turns into a holdings company from April next year.

Todays news follows on from two recent championship announcements for Japan which see Super Aguri become one of the 10 teams to compete in Formula E and Japanese driver Takuma Sato joining as one of the series development drivers.

Alejandro Agag, CEO of series promoters Formula E Holdings, added: We are delighted to announce this partnership between TV Asahi and the FIA Formula E Championship, especially with Japan being such an influential market in terms of motorsport and the automotive industry. With live coverage of all races on the networks terrestrial, satellite and cable channels, it means we can showcase the excitement of Formula E to an even wider audience, as well as provide a platform for our partners and our teams to visualize the values of this competition.

TV Asahi now joins FOX Sports as confirmed broadcasters for the new zero emission series after it was announced earlier this year that the US network would show live coverage of all Formula E races in the US and 88 territories around the world a potential reach of more than 180 million households worldwide.

Virgin becomes ninth team to enter Formula E as grid nears completion

Virgin, one of the world's most recognised and respected brands, have today (5 December) announced it will be entering a team in the new fully-electric FIA Formula E Championship after signing an agreement with series promoters Formula E Holdings.

Based in the UK, the Virgin Racing Formula E Team will be headed by Team Principal Alex Tai and has the backing of Virgin founder Sir Richard Branson. Both have been involved in a number of pioneering technology projects in aviation, space and more recently racing.

The launch of the FIA Formula E Championship is exciting news for racing fans but also for those that believe in developing the great electric cars of the future, said Sir Richard Branson. The need to create fast, dependable and durable race cars will help to accelerate the sector and showcase electric cars to a large global audience. With races around many famous city centres, I am expecting a lot of spectators, plenty of fun and some sparks flying as the competition hots up.

Virgin Racing will now be put forward to the FIA for final approval as the ninth of ten teams to enter the new zero emission championship, racing in 10 city-centres around the world. They join IndyCar outfits Andretti Autosport and Dragon Racing, Asias China Racing, Super Aguri and Mahindra Racing, and European squads Drayson Racing, e.dams and Audi Sport ABT.

Team Principal Alex Tai said: Im absolutely sold on the concept of Formula E and believe that it is a great fit for the Virgin brand. The accessible nature of the series with its races being right in the heart of our great cities, should create a wonderful atmosphere.

The drive to develop new technology appeals to Virgin, which has always been a pioneering organisation. Ive been fortunate to have been involved in a number of such activities over years, from the Virgin Atlantic GlobalFlyer to Virgin Galactic activities that push technological and human boundaries and capture peoples imagination.

We have hugely exciting plans and over the next nine months will be revealing new parts to our story on a regular basis, so Id ask fans and the commercial world alike to watch this space.

Conceived in 1970 by Sir Richard Branson, Virgin is a leading international investment group which has gone on to grow successful businesses in sectors ranging from mobile telephony, travel, financial services, leisure, music, holidays and health and wellness.

Alejandro Agag, CEO Formula E Holdings, said: It gives me great pleasure to welcome Sir Richard Branson and the Virgin Racing Team to Formula E and for them to have chosen the FIAs new global electric race series to make their return to top-flight motor sport. Having a global brand like Virgin, renowned for their technological innovation and sporting passion, as one of our ten teams is a fantastic addition to the championship and shows their commitment to sustainable mobility.

Todays announcement now means we just have one team left to announce before the grid for the inaugural 2014/2015 Formula E season is complete.

(y antiguamente no tardaban 25 seg).
