Pedro de la Rosa - Foro _ English F-1 Forum _ JOS BETTER THAN PEDRO?

Publicado por: Bartus el Apr 20 2000, 02:08 AM

Imagine what would have happened if Jos qualified on Pedros' spots ;-) I agree with you, it is still early in the season but one has to win. Since you are the first to respondhere I put a bottle of Vetrano at stake. If Jos has more points by the end of 1999 you pay, otherwise I pay. If it is a draw I propose we both get drunk..........

Publicado por: Adeur el Apr 20 2000, 05:24 PM

Hi Bartus!!!
I accept it!!! I hope it will be a draw and that we get drunk together, but i think Pedro will win.
I have tried to read your forum but it is not in english only in hollandish. I can try to understand it becuase I speek german but... It's not the same.

Publicado por: Bavaria© el Apr 20 2000, 06:32 PM

ehhhh Bartus.....

Jos did'nt drive in 1999
you've just lost a bottle of Vetrano (what ever that me be) :-)

Shit, time flies when you're having fun. The bet should have been for 2000 offcourse. Concerning this german language I must point out that German is in fact not a language, it is a degeneration of Dutch, when Dutchies catch a cold or become very drunk, they can easily speak German......

Yeah, Pedro did fantastic on Saturday!!!

Publicado por: Kwiebuz el Apr 23 2000, 12:38 PM

Sorry, that was not very nice of me, I wish Pedro the best for the Race this afternoon and I hope to see both Arrows drivers put up some good results!!

Publicado por: nacho el Apr 24 2000, 12:17 AM

you filthy bastards! Pedro finished 19th yesterday bacause when he was on his last flying lap (when the track had already dried a lot) he put one wheel on the grass and therefore lost the chance to set a better time. So, hadn´t it been for that trivial mistake, he would have outqualified Jos as he has always done!

Publicado por: Bartus el Apr 25 2000, 02:24 PM

Filthy bastards? us? The decent dutchies? Do I smell the taste of frustration and bitter disappointment in this answer? Comeon, in qualification we have a balance now, in racing Jos did better. Main problem right now is that the team, the car, the elctronics, the gearbox, or whatever circumstances outside the drivers'influence is stopping them from being succesfull, now that is the main concern. Or would you like to go into a good old flamewar ;-)

Special for Arnold.

Would you like know how I felt after last race? O.K. Just Wait to MONTMELO and you will know.

Anyway i hope that this will progress in a near future for both, because as you know, every thing have a limit, the sponsor´s money too.

Is really important who is the best of both (Jos & Pedro) or the team future?

Publicado por: superbob el Apr 25 2000, 11:34 PM

I say to Arnold.

Warm-up Sunday before race.

1- David Coulthard McLaren 1.26,800
2- Pedro de La Rosa Arrows 1.26,844
3- Ralf Schumacher Williams 1.26,905
4- Mika Hakkinen McLaren 1.27,012
5- Michael Schumacher M Ferrari 1.27,134
6- Rubens Barrichello Ferrari 1.27,404
...
10- Jos Verstappen Arrows 1.27,740

Publicado por: Kwiebuz el Apr 26 2000, 07:11 AM

Yeah, Warm up is real important, you guys think of something else every time, now Jos outqualifies Pedro (2-2 so far) you say Pedro is faster in warm up... What will you say next??? Pedro can bake an Egg faster??

It's the race that counts, not the warm up, YOU CAN'T SCORE ANY POINTS IN WARM-UP!!!!!

Publicado por: JCARLOS el Apr 26 2000, 04:09 PM

Since i'm a fan of Pedro, i can't say that Jos is better than him, but there's no doubt that to this point of the season, Jos has been better where it really counts. All the good times Pedro has made in free practices or in the warm-ups mean really nothing. Maybe it's a sign that he's feeling too much pressure and it's not dealing well with it. It's still early, but i think that thew first points Arrows will get this year (and i think there will be some) will come from Jos.

Publicado por: nacho el Apr 26 2000, 07:55 PM

Bartus I wasn´t referring to you or any of the other "normal" dutchs, but to the bastard who said HAHAHA after Pedro´s mistake (the only in the whole weekend).
By the way, it´s true that jos seems more likely to score points right now, but bear in mind that next race is Montmeló. Last year, pedro´s performance there was impressive, ending nearly one lap ahead his teammate Takagi (and the japanese didn´t have any accidents or mechanical trouble!)
So, although Jos is performing better than the spaniard in the races, let´s wait and see what happens in the next races, specially as far as the car´s reliability is concerned.

Publicado por: Laptom el Apr 28 2000, 03:49 PM

I believe that the race in Montmeló is going to be the race for Pedro. It's a fact that Jos and Pedro are very competitive to eachother and I think that it's not important who's the best of the two.

I only hope that both could finaly score points in Montmeló. It's about time that we see some result of the Arrows team and not again a early end of the race. But with the testing the last couple of days they proved that they have a fast and a trouble free car. Now in the race.

There's just one thing to be told here I think. Pedro is a very fast driver. Even in
1997 he was allready in the race for a seat at Arrows together with Jos (I got that from
someone who knows Jos). Pedro is not just some one-day driver and is a serious threat to Jos. Jos, however, is far more experienced
in Formula 1, and it looks like he's going to beat Pedro this year, but we won't know that till the end, don't we. I think that we could
go a long way if we would just be nice to eachother and respected Pedro and Jos as the
fast, talented drivers they are.

Publicado por: Jenny el Apr 29 2000, 10:35 PM

I think that Pedro will benefit a lot from having Jos as a team mate. Jos may come across quicker but remember he is more experienced in race situations. Last year Pedro had no competition for within, Takagi was too slow, but he will learn a great deal from Jos this year i think.
Also, i am suprised at the amount of support for Pedro........ i thought it was only the Spanish. All Pedro fans reading this have made a great choice if driver to support........ the nicest most genuine driver in the paddock (Frentzen comes a close 2nd). Always has time for his fans and never looks down on you and really appriciates his supporters. The atmosphere amoungst the team is alway high when he is around because of the positive attitude he brings, he really completes the Arrows team.
Lets hope some of the positivity in the team leads to results for Pedro and Jos in Spain. Vamos Pedro!!

I think jos has more experience as official and test driver, but he always has been beaten by his teammate.Pedro has not this experience but he is faster than jos and I bet he will be better in the rest of the season.

Publicado por: Alvaro15 el May 2 2000, 01:21 AM

I think taht joss vertapen is very bad, and pedro de la rosa is the best. Joss was think who going to win to Pedro, but it wasn´t.

Publicado por: Atila el May 2 2000, 06:42 PM

Assuming that everyone in this chat follows the testing times and qualifying through internet it is OBVIOUS that Pedro is much faster than Jos, he is also much more consistent. Jos has done some great starts, but how long will his luck last?

What happened in Brazil? Jos just blew up Arrows first opportunity to score points this year. If I were Tom W. I would be really disappointed at Jos. Should the race have turned up so well for Pedro I have no doubt that he would have scored.
Pedro is being very agressive this year, it is just a matter of time for his results to show up.

Publicado por: Simmaster F el May 3 2000, 04:02 AM

To jesus:
Jos wasn't beaten by every teammate...please do some research before stating something...

To Alvaro15:
Go play with you toys or go back to school...You won't be taken serious with this sort of postings...

To Atila:
Its OBVIOUS you don't follow F1 too well I'm afraid...it's 2-2 in qualifying and although Pedro's got the edge until now in testing times/practise times, it really doesn't say anything...

In the races Pedro hasn't been in front of Jos anytime/anywhere but for the grid position in Melbourne and San Marino.
IMO both drivers are almost matched for eachother but Jos certainly has the edge and IMO during the season pedro will have problems to follow Jos' speed when Jos will know the team a bit better. (don't forget Pedro has already done a year at Arrows)

In the end Pedro and Jos are both really fast drivers who both are underrated IMO.

Don't be too subjective and show some respect for both!

I'm sorry,Simmaster.Verstappen was not beaten by everybody.Jos was only beaten by M. Schumacher,M.Salo and R.Barrichello but he won to M. Sciatarella (Simtek)and R. Rosset (Arrows), two good ¿drivers?.Verstappen is not a star.

Publicado por: Laptom el May 4 2000, 04:48 PM

Perhaps you're right. But he has been beaten Pedro for so far. Isn't he also a star? I think that you don't know the background of Jos. And I'm affraid that you only read the national press and not the international one. There you could see that a lot of people are impressed by Jos. Schumacher allways said that Jos is one of the big ones in F1. It was for Jos the first year in F1 beside Schumacher and his thirth year in a formula car.
When Button came to Williams people hoped that he not became a second Jos, to young and to unexperienced for F1. But Button has the luck that not Micheal is in his team and the teams learned a lot since Jos came to F1.

So take of those blinkers and see a little bit more then only Pedro.

I believe that this weekend Pedro is finally going to score (perhaps also points), but the next races Jos is going to lead the Arrows team.

Greetings Tommy

I can't read too much press. In this country is dificult to find good news about f1.Newspapers and tv never talk about it and my english is not enough good to read international press. All my thoughts are made watching races on tv. I think pedro will never be world champion, but he could win races someday.Jos had a very difficult first season with benetton, but he had more choices than other drivers and he didn´t show a lot (I only surprised the races with Simtek).Possibly the first season stopped his progress.I wish will never happen the same with Jenson Button,Fernando Alonso and other drivers.

Are you sure about that? We the spanish must recognize that Jos has been making outstanding starts, but he´s benn forced to risk that way due to his poor qualification sessions. Anyway, no doubt Jos is a hard teammate to beat (as you know, both pilots must prove themselves betterr than the other)but let´s wait until the season is over to decide who´s done better overall.
