Kobayashi: No es fácil olvidar los malos recuerdos


Kamui Kobayashi ha dicho que olvidar los "malos recuerdos" no fue fácil en el transcurso de sus primeras seis carreras como piloto de Sauber. El japonés termino en décima posición con el equipo de Hinwil en Turquía.

Habiendo terminado décimo en la clasificación del sábado, Kobayashi efectivamente defendió su posición el domingo, aprovechando la retirada de Sebastian Vettel para así sumar el primer punto de Sauber de 2010, tras lo que estadísticamente ha sido el peor inicio de temporada del equipo desde que fuera fundado por Peter Sauber en 1993.

"A veces no es fácil olvidar los malos recuerdos, como el accidente que ocurrió en Melbourne después de que perdiera el alerón delantero, pero la motivación nunca ha sido un problema", dijo Kobayashi. "Me encanta ir a competir y nuestros objetivos siempre fueron realistas. Queríamos sumar puntos y no estamos soñando con ganar carreras al día siguiente."

Después de haber pilotado el año pasado únicamente en Brasil y Abu Dhabi, Kamui - al igual que Jaime Alguersuari de Toro Rosso, ambos se están estrenando en algunos de los circuitos en la primera mitad del calendario.

"Canadá será un circuito nuevo para mí", continuó. "Yo ni siquiera lo conozco por el simulador y así que tengo que aprenderlo en los entrenamientos libres. Obviamente, los otros pilotos tienen una ventaja aquí, pero yo no lo veo como un problema."

"En general, siento que ahora estamos en el camino correcto. La forma en que trabajamos juntos y la sintonía con los demás ha mejorado y fue tan bonito ver a los mecánicos sonriendo en Estambul por primera vez después de la carrera. Hasta entonces sólo había visto decepción las noches de los domingos. "

Canadian GP - Preview

After encountering all sorts of problems and bad luck in the first six races, the Turkish Grand Prix was a relief for the first time this season the team finished a race with both cars and scored its first championship point. The team wants to keep the momentum going for the Canadian Grand Prix in Montreal on the 13th June. The fast and challenging Circuit Gilles Villeneuve on the picturesque island in the St. Lawrence River has played a fateful roll in the history of the team. In 2007 Robert Kubica had his horrifying accident there, and in 2008 the only victory in the teams F1 history was celebrated when Kubica won and his team-mate, Nick Heidfeld, was second.

Pedro de la Rosa: It is great to have the Canadian Grand Prix back on the calendar, as everybody always enjoyed it so much because of the atmosphere and the great racing there. I think the layout of the Montreal circuit is good for exciting races, and it is definitely one of the tracks where overtaking is easiest. It is a track where you run less downforce compared to previous races, and it is also one of the few tracks that has a distinctive personality. Last time I drove there was in 2005 in a Friday practice. One of the most enjoyable races for me was the 2001 Canadian Grand Prix. I was in the top five cars and fighting with Mika Hakkinen and some other guys - we had great fun. It is one of the hardest races for brakes and also a tough one for the engines. Physically for the drivers it is a rather easy one.


Kamui Kobayashi: I have only been in Montreal once, and this was for the 2008 Grand Prix, which I attended as a reserve driver for Toyota. Obviously back then I had time to enjoy the atmosphere. I have to say in a way it reminds me of Melbourne, with people partying and having fun over the Grand Prix weekend. Im very much looking forward to racing in front of that crowd, and, after we had a reasonable race in Turkey, I really hope this is the beginning of a much stronger period in the championship for us. We have to keep working hard to make this happen.


Technical Director James Key: It is great to go back to Montreal because it is such a popular place. The Montreal circuit is unique in many respects. It is the first time this year we will be running with a medium downforce level, therefore we will be taking drag off the car to optimize the lap times. Secondly you have very heavy braking in Montreal. We will be watching the brake wear levels and temperatures very closely and also paying close attention to the cars braking stability, while traction out of the corners is also important. It is a bit of a stop and go circuit and the kerbs in the chicanes are another major aspect you have to consider when setting up the car. On top of that, tyre wear and grip levels can be strange and difficult to manage there. It can be very low grip and in the past we have sometimes seen grip levels have not improved over the sessions. At the same time you can have heavy tyre wear and loads of marbles off line, and perhaps this is track surface related. Finally there are some clear overtaking opportunities on the Montreal circuit, so we expect an exciting race and hope to continue the good form we had in Istanbul.

Gran circuito y gran ciudad. He tenido la enorme fortuna de visitar Montreal, que no la isla donde se encuentra el circuito y la verdad es que me dejo impresionado. La verdad, es que me dejo impresionado toda la zona de Canada que visite. Si algun dia decidis cruzar el charco de vacaciones, Canada es un pais ideal.

Mas o menos deberian ser asi los alerones para canada aunque quizas cambien algo para incorporarle el fduck.

Lo que esta claro es que tienen o deberian tener la experiencia del año pasado. Mejor, imposible.

El equipo ha dado un paso hacia adelante. Primero fue la aerodinamica con el F-duct y el aleron delantero; luego ha sido la mecanica, o eso parece; Koba ya ha puntuado y tan solo queda que Pedro le de al equipo un empujoncito mayor.

Una Q3 y unos puntitos no vendrian mal .

¿como es posile que el propio pedro confunda el año en el que le metió rueda a mikka (2000) con el 2001 (año en el que puntuó 6º con el Jaguar)?.
Por cierto, puntuar de aquella sí que tenía merito.

Salvo Williams, del resto de equipos no se esperan grandes evoluciones, tampoco en Sauber.

Creo que puede ser un buen circuito para el coche, salvo por el tema de los baches, que veremos como está la pista.

Es una buena pista para Pedro, muy de su estilo.

Kamui no la conoce, Pedro debería estar por delante.

Yo creo que Force India tampoco debería ir tan bien en este circuito, de hecho tema más a Toro Rosso (Buemi al menos a una vuelta, y Jaime en carrera) que a Liuzzi por ejemplo. Será difícil, pero hay que volver a aspirar a estar entre la 11º y la 14º en clasificación.

Podría llover el sábado en clasificación.

sale 9º y adelanta a 2, en la vuelta 2 hace otro a adelantamiento, se pone 6º y empieza a meterle rueda a mikka

Weno, no empecemos a hablar ya de lluvias q se me ponen los dientes largos . En weather dan lluvia con 60% xa sabado y domingo.
Es un circuito en el q Pedro debe estar por delante de Kamui xq lo conoce, xq le va muy bien a su estilo (stop and go) y como ya han apuntado, estrena motor, muy importante aquí.
En mi opinión los McLaren parten como favoritos ante los Red Bull en Canadá.
Será un fin de semana muy divertido, esperemos q la fiabilidad siga respetando a los Sauber.

Sauber expects team to fight back

Peter Sauber thinks it is only a matter of time before his outfit can return to the strong form it showed in the past, after getting its points tally off the mark at the Turkish Grand Prix.

After a difficult start to the 2010 campaign, which was plagued with reliability problems, Sauber has enjoyed a lift in form since the Spanish GP and Kamui Kobayashi helped deliver its first point of the year at Istanbul.

And although that result - allied to the on-track performance - will be a boost to the team's hopes of landing a big money sponsor, team boss Sauber thinks the foundations are already in place for an exciting second half to the year.

"The results are important for sponsors, to show them the team has made progress, but when I speak with sponsors, with potential sponsors, they know the history of the team," Sauber told AUTOSPORT.

"It makes no sense to show the situation now - it is necessary to go back. The team is the old one, the infrastructure is one of the best, and it is only a question of time to be back.

"We are not far from Renault or far from Mercedes, and you cannot make a comparison between a rookie like Kamui, and someone like [Michael] Schumacher or [Robert] Kubica. You cannot do that."

Sauber thinks that allied to the pace improvements shown in recent weeks, the fact that the team got two cars to the finish in Turkey was important for team morale.

"It is the normal situation to be reliable," he said. "I hope that we can be reliable also in the future. For me it was very important the qualifying in Turkey from Kamui in Q2. The time was excellent and that showed me that the car is able for a good time, and also Kamui is able to do that.

"We have some small developments coming for Canada, but I think the bigger step will be in the middle of the season."

Parece que podemos ir despidiendonos de ver renovar a Pedro el año que viene. En las declaraciones que sigue haciendo Peter Sauber ningunea a Pedro y hecha la culpa a los pilotos. Hay que joderse con Don Peter. ¿De verdad se pensará que no tiene mal coche? ¿No será que ya le empiezan a pesar los años? demencia senil o algo por el estilo. Yo que él me lo miraría.
