Asmer, Villa to test for BMW

Marko Asmer and Javier Villa will join the BMW Sauber team in testing at the Jerez circuit next week, the German squad confirmed.

British F3 champion Asmer will share the car with Villa on December 4th, the Estonian driving in the morning with Villa taking to the wheel in the afternoon.

Asmer will then return to action on December 7th, when he will have the car for himself all day.

Twenty-year-old Villa, who raced in GP2 in 2007, will make his debut at the wheel of a Formula One car.

Asmer has driven for the Williams team back in 2003, when he was only 19.

BMW are looking for a test driver following the exit of Timo Glock.

Repsol Honda rider Dani Pedrosa was also the fastest rider on the third and final day of testing at Jerez. The Spaniard completed the fastest time of the week in 1.38.562 today. His team-mate Nicky Hayden was second fastest and Yamaha's rookie rider Lorenzo came in third.

Thursday was the third and final day of testing in Jerez. The MotoGP teams continued preparations for the 2008 season. Valentino Rossi completed his third day of testing with Yamaha with his injured hand. The Italian completed the test with Bridgestone tyres.

Honda LCR's new rider Randy de Puniet fell of his bike twice on Thursday but did not injure himself fortunately.

The MotoGP teams will be back in action on January 22nd in Sepang.

as once escuderías que participan en el Campeonato del Mundo de Fórmula 1 se entrenarán entre el martes y el viernes en el circuito de Jerez de la Frontera, esta vez con todos los pilotos titulares, a excepción de Alonso, que sigue buscando equipo.

En los entrenamientos de esta semana ya entrarán en acción los dos primeros clasificados del pasado campeonato, el finlandés Kimi Raikkonen (Ferrari) y el británico Lewis Hamilton (McLaren Mercedes). Asimismo, volverá a rodar para Ferrari el siete veces campeón del mundo, el alemán Michael Schumacher, retirado de la competición a finales del 2006.

Raikkonen, campeón mundial, volverá a subirse a un Ferrari y lo hará el martes -junto al español Marc Gené, piloto de pruebas- y el miércoles -al lado del brasileño Felipe Massa-. El jueves y el viernes será el turno de Michael Schumacher, en ambas ocasiones compartiendo labores con Massa, que el pasado fin de semana contrajo matrimonio.

Michael Schumacher volverá a subirse en un monoplaza en una pista en la que aún ostenta el récord oficioso en test privados.

El alemán, que ayuda al equipo a configurar las directrices de desarrollo del nuevo Ferrari de 2008, rodará dos días de nuevo como piloto probador ocasional. En los llevado a cano en Barcelona dio muestras sobradas de que sigue estando en la cima.

Hamilton, actual subcampeón, volverá esta semana al trabajo de pista. Los hará el miércoles y el jueves de una semana en la que el español Pedro de la Rosa, que aún pugna por ser el compañero del inglés en 2008, tiene previsto rodar todos los días -el viernes, en solitario-. El también piloto de pruebas del equipo, el británico Gary Paffett, sólo lo hará el martes.

El equipo Force India -antes Spyker- rodará con hasta ocho pilotos a lo largo de estos cuatro días. Roldán Rodríguez, en el que será su segundo test con el equipo, seguirá peleando por una plaza titular con los italianos Giancarlo Fisichella y Vitantonio Liuzzi, los alemanes Ralf Schumacher y Adrian Sutil, el austríaco Christian Klien, el francés Frank Montagny y el holandés Giedo Van der Garde, que también buscan un sitio en Force India.

El también español Javier Villa se subirá mañana por primera vez en un monoplaza de la máxima categoría. El asturiano, que en 2007 ganó tres carreras del Campeonato GP2, ha sido invitado por BMW Sauber para rodar en Jerez sólo el martes por la mañana, junto al alemán Nick Heidfeld, piloto titular del equipo.

Villa, de 20 años, dejará su coche por la tarde al estonio Marko Asmer, invitado también por el equipo para tomar parte en estas pruebas. Asmer, de 23 años, es el actual campeón británico de Fórmula 3.

El miércoles los pilotos encargados de pilotar los BMW Sauber serán los dos titulares, Heidfeld y el polaco Robert Kubica, quien el jueves compartirá jornada de trabajo con Asmer.

Los entrenamientos se llevarán a cabo con los once equipos del Mundial, aunque Renault que sólo estará en la pista jerezana hasta el jueves.

Además, los equipos probarán neumáticos lisos durante los test. Esta será la primera vez que las escuderías de Fórmula Uno rueden con 'slicks' desde que fueran prohibidos en el Mundial de Fórmula Uno al final de la campaña de 1997. Bridgestone, abastecedor único de neumáticos del campeonato, suministrará tres juegos de ruedas Potenza sin dibujo a cada uno de los equipos que hagan pruebas en Jerez.

Esta novedad, que se llevará a cabo por petición expresa de las escuderías, se hace en previsión de que en 2009 la reglamentación permita de nuevo su uso en el campeonato, algo que aún no está garantizado. En 2008 hubo planes para el regreso de los 'slicks', pero su uso fue aplazado.

PEDRO DE LA ROSA ENTRENARÁ 4 DÍAS EN JEREZ

Pedro de la Rosa se dirige hoy hasta la ciudad de Jerez para subirse mañana al MP4/22 y preparar el coche para la próxima temporada. El piloto español estará presente los 4 días de tests compartiendo boxes Gary Paffet mañana y con Lewis Hamilton, miércoles y jueves.

Además de los pilotos del equipo Vodafone McLaren Mercedes, se calcula que unos 30 pilotos estarán entrenando estas jornadas en Jerez. Los 11 equipos se concentrarán esta semana en el circuito andaluz para seguir con el trabajo que empezaron en las primeras pruebas de pretemporada, celebradas el mes pasado en el Circuit de Catalunya. Los equipos se centrarán en pruebas de neumáticos, de aerodinámica y también en el comportamiento de los monoplazas sin el control de tracción y las ayudas electrónicas.

Hulkenberg to test for Williams at Jerez

Formula Three Euro Series frontrunner Nico Hulkenberg will test for Williams at Jerez in Spain this week, the team have confirmed.

The German, who is managed by Willi Weber, is due to drive tomorrow and Wednesday during the last F1 test of the year.

The two-day run will mark the first time that the 20-year-old has driven a Formula One car.

Williams have a vacancy for a test and reserve driver for next season, with Kazuki Nakajima having moved up to a race seat for 2008.

It is understood that Hulkenberg's run is part of an evaluation for the test driver role, although it is possible that other young drivers could test for the team at the start of next year.

Hulkenberg is a former German Formula BMW champion, who shot to fame when he dominated the 2006-7 A1GP series for Team Germany. He finished third in the Euro Series last year, and has just signed for another season in the F3 category for 2008.

El hermano pequeño de un ex piloto de fórmula uno ha ganado una futura sesión de pruebas con McLaren. El joven de 18 años es Stefan Wilson, hermano de Justin Wilson que pilotó para Minardi y Jaguar en 2003 antes de pasarse a la Champ Car en América.

Ayer domingo por la noche, Stefan fue nombrado ganador del McLaren Autosport BRDC Award. Su hermano mayor de 29 años jamás consiguió ese premio que se le otorga a los jóvenes británicos más prometedores, como David coulthard, Jenson Button y Anthony Davidson, que son unos de los anteriores ganadores.

Seleccionado entre seis nominados después de dos días de pruebas en varios coches el mes pasado, Wilson ha ganado 100.000 dólares y una sesión de pruebas para McLaren.

"Esto me separará un poco de mi hermano, aunque me gustará provocarle", bromeó Stefan.
