Yo creo que lo de "iguales condiciones" es entre el R2 y el R3 no entre Pedro e Irvine puesto que cada uno tiene un estilo de pilotaje distinto.
Ahora se comparan los coches, no los pilotos. Esto se hace en carrera.

Irvine predicts R2 return

Jaguar driver Eddie Irvine expects last year's R2 car to be pressed back into service following its comparison test with the current R3 at Barcelona this week, say reports.
Jaguar will decide after the Spanish test whether to reintroduce the R2 for the San Marino Grand Prix in April, following the new car's disappointing performance in the opening two rounds of the season. However, Irvine says there is little doubt the R2 will prove the superior car.

"There's no question the R2 is better," he was reported as saying by British magazine Autosport. "Last year in the races it was consistently the fourth best car after the 'big three'.

"We had a problem with it in qualifying, but it was always a very good race car, except, bizarrely, at Monaco, where it was good in qualifying but not particularly so in the race."


Jaguar have insisted any decision to reinstate the R2 as a race car will not be taken lightly and team boss Niki Lauda said it will have to prove significantly quicker than its successor in this week's test.

"The R2 only makes sense to us if it is between half a second and one second quicker than the R3 straight away," he was quoted as saying by Autosport. "If it only two or three-tenths faster, we could get the R3 going quickly, but to find one second in the R3 will take time."

Should Jaguar reintroduce the R2, they are expected to then develop both cars in parallel.
