FIA: The entry list will be published soon

The FIA has finally broken its silence over concerns surrounding the 2010 championship, with a spokesman saying that the entry list will be published "soon".

It looks as if it is the end of the road for US F1, after the FIA has reportedly decided to reject Ken Anderson's request to freeze the team's entry until 2011. Germany's Auto Motor und Sport reports that the governing body is now deciding whether or not to immediately pass the final team slot to Stefan GP for the season, that begins in Bahrain in a matter of days.

Bernie Ecclestone said opening the entry for an official tender process so close to the Bahrain deadline makes "little sense. As far I know, Stefan GP could race in Bahrain," he said. "Yet you should not believe everything you hear, because we don't want the opposite to come true. The FIA will conduct a business review, and if positive, Stefan GP might get off the line in Bahrain."

It has been widely reported that Stefan GP's acceptance into the championship would be conditional on the agreement of all of the other teams on the grid, but Ecclestone has firmly denied this.

"This has nothing to do with the others," he said. "It is entirely up to the FIA to say yes or no."

If Stefan was awarded the final spaces on the grid, it has Japanese driver Kazuki Nakajima lined up to drive. The second seat is set to be occupied by 1997 world champion Jacques Villeneuve, which would bring the number of champions on the grid to five. Ecclestone said that "it would be great" to see Villeneuve back in F1.
