En su consultorio bisemanal en itv-f1.com a Peter Windsor le han preguntado qué cambiaría él para mejorar la F1. La respuesta es curiosa: nada. La explicación muy interesante:

"If you were charged with the task of improving the racing in F1, how would you go about it?

I would change nothing. I think F1 is fantastic as it is. If you want to watch a million meaningless overtaking manoeuvres and lots of shunts go and watch NASCAR or bikes or IRL or something.

If you want to watch the best drivers in the world in the fastest, most technically advanced, purpose-built cars in the world, all competing on the world’s biggest commercial and logistic sporting platform, then watch F1.

For next year and beyond I would make only two major changes to the structure of the sport: 1) The top three drivers in the world championship should at the end of every season spend the fallow months of November and December on a world tour to all the F1 venues, taking part in charity events and saying hi to the crowds and to the media; and 2) I think there should be 13 teams in total and that they should all be manufacturers in their own right.

F1 went through massive growing pains to achieve the status it currently enjoys and it would be stupid to throw that away now with so-called “cloned” cars or McLarens bought off the shelf. Next thing we know they’ll all be racing Marches, for Pete’s (or is it Max’s?) sake!["

Traducción libérrima mía (perdón por los errores):

No cambiaría nada. Creo que la F1 es fantástica tal y como es. Si lo que quieres es ver un millón de adelantamientos sin sentido y muchos choques ve a ver la Nascar, las motos, la IRL o algo así.

Si lo que quieres es ver a los mejores pilotos del mundo en los coches más rápidos, más técnicamente avanzados y construidos exclusivamente para serlo, compitiendo en el deporte con la mayor plataforma comercial y logística del mundo, entonces ve la F1.

Para el año que viene y más adelante yo sólo haría dos grandes cambios en la estructura del deporte: 1- Los tres primeros pilotos del campeonato del mundo deberían pasarse los meses de noviembre y diciembre tras cada temporada en una gira mundial a todas las pistas de F1 para participar en eventos de caridad, saludar a los fans y atender a los periodistas. 2- Creo que debería haber 13 equipos y que todos ellos deberían ser constructores por sí mismos.

La F1 ha tenido grandes problemas de creciendo para alcanzar el “status” del que ahora mismo disfruta y sería estúpido tirarlo todo a la basura con los llamados coches “clonados” o McLarens comprados directamente de la estantería. Lo próximo que veríamos sería a todos correriendo con Marchs o algo así ¡por amor de Dios! [chiste intraducible].

Estoy bastante de acuerdo con los dos primeros párrafos.
