Piquet fastest, Carroll on pole in Silverstone

Adam Carroll leads an all British front row at Silverstone after Nelson Piquet had his fastest lap taken from him in qualifying.

Nelson Piquet Jr was the fastest man on track in today's qualifying session at Silverstone, but a penalty picked up in free practice means there will be an all British front row for race one tomorrow, with Adam Carroll lining up just ahead of Lewis Hamilton.

Piquet set a time of 1:29.029 late in the session after suffering through a string of troubles early on, but his fastest time has been removed after he was judged to have overtaken Gimmi Bruni under yellow flags in this morning's free practice.

Poleman Carroll was quick right from the start of the session, setting a lap of 1:29.104 on his first flying lap while, behind him, Piquet spun his ill-handling car as he was pushing hard and Luca Filippi pirouetted through into the gravel at Luffield on his return to the series with BCN.

No one was able to beat Carroll's time in the first half of the session, although Timo Glock, clearly enjoying his new seat at iSport, was the closest man to him in the lap charts.

Piquet's mechanics were working hard on sorting out the set up of his car for a late dash after failing to break into the top ten, and he was soon joined by most of the field when Fairuz Fauzy found the wall at Maggotts. The big impact put a lot of dust into the air, and the teams took the opportunity to get new tyres onto their cars as the Malaysian's broken vehicle was removed.

The Piquet Sports mechanics should be satisfied with their work: his first flying lap back set the fastest time of the day, and he was fast enough next time around to put himself next to third placed Alex Premat on tomorrow's grid.

Glock will line up behind him in fifth, his best qualifying session so far this year, with Andreas Zuber, Lucas di Grassi and Bruni rounding out the top eight. Further back Neel Jani had a torrid qualifying session to finish 22nd after a big impact during Formula One qualifying in his day job at Toro Rosso.

The top fourteen drivers are covered by just one second, promising an enthralling start to race one tomorrow.

Pues aquí lo tenemos, y se estrena con nada más y nada menos que el circuito de montecarlo en el principado de monaco.

Este finde en el mismo circuito se juntarán la GP2 y las World Series by Renault, el año pasado los tiempos estuvieron muy apretados, pero ello se debía en gran parte a que los GP2 llevaban neumáticos rayados, este año en cambio, con los slicks las diferencias serán mayores.
A ver si Borja García le recorta puntos a Eric Salignon y se pone lider del certamen, me conformo con que repita dos podios, y si piede ser en lo más alto, es muy importante la regulridad en estos campeonatos, lo que importa es sumar siempre algún puntito.
En GP2 Vallés ya se subió al podio en 2005 con Pons Racing, a ver si repite, y Carrol ganó con Super Nova, que repita con racing Engineering, en cuanto a BCN Viso parece estar enrachado, seguro que hace al menos una buena carrera. Y por supuesto, a ver si hamilton es tan bueno y tiene manos delicadas porquer los guardaraíles de montecarlo no permiten un solo error.
