Martin Whitmash declara que Mclaren debe focalizar sus esfuerzos en mejorar el coche y olvidarse ahora en luchas por ganar el título.
Teniendo en cuenta que el monoplaza ocupa en estos momentos el tercer lugar entre los mejores del campeonato, era esperable ese 5º puesto de Kimi -a no ser que algo sucediera con los coches "que van por delante"-. Pero en esta ocasión, además, la carrera ha demostrado una gran distancia en cuanto a tiempos, por lo tanto hay que seguir desarrollando el coche, el motor y las prestaciones aerodinámicas para poder conseguir ser más fuertes durante el resto de la temporada. Lo principal ahora es poder ganar carreras.

"Frankly we had the third best car here and in those circumstances, unless something happened to the two teams in front, we were likely to be having a fifth place and that's what we had.
The gap is bigger than we expected and disappointing obviously, coming away from only one week ago when we were very close to the front-runners. We were some way further behind. It's something that we've got to look at.

We've got to go away from here and make sure we continue to develop the package, the car, the engine to make sure we are stronger for the rest of the season.

Probably at the moment we shouldn't be focusing on the championship, we should be focusing on making our car go quicker and winning some races."
