Pedro de la Rosa - Foro _ English F-1 Forum _ Why not Minardi?

Publicado por: David Plaza el Feb 3 2001, 11:10 PM

No tests, old engine, chasis design without references about the engine,no traction control simulations and a teammate really fast.

In my opinion isn´t a good choice.

Gracias a Pedro por el futuro.Por un foro eterno...

Pedro is an excellent driver, although I personally do not see him made out to be a world champion in F1. Prost will give him a very good chance to win some races, however.

To have gone to Minardi would have ended his career because it would have been perceived as a step backwards and also because he would be competing against Fernando Alonso. Alonso, without any doubt, has got what it takes to be a WC and I believe he would have put Pedro in the shade (and anyone else).

I agree totally with you. Fernando will be the first spanish World Champion.

Pedro is a good driver, maybe the best Spanish one until Fernando appeared. But anyway, he they are the ones that can give the first F1 win for Spain.

Regards and good luck.

Thanks Alonso Mania.

Are you old enough to have seen Gilles Villeneuve racing?

I don´t think I have seen anyone as naturally fast as the nº 27 Ferrari until watching Fernando Alonso. I suppose it is debatable, but it is a question that no one could have possibly raised with regard to any Spanish driver to date - including Pedro, of course.

What we need is a Fernando Alonso forum.

Tommy, are you kidding me?

I'm absolutely convinced that Fernando is a good driver. And maybe one day he'll become a star.

But, up to now, there is nothing that can make me think of comparing him with the great Gilles.

Please, don't be that simple-minded.

There are few driver along F1 history that could resist such a comparison.

In fact, I can only think of 3: Clark, Peterson and Senna.

I repeat, Fernando seems to me a good driver with huge possibilities of becoming a star and probably even a World Champion.

But nothing points out to a new Gilles. Not so far.

No way guys.

P.S: I'm 34. I've seen Gilles.

It's so difficult(impossible really) compare different decades...

Only one Gilles,I supose.

Fernando must demostrate many things in the future, allthow(word courtesy from Garbu),in my opinion Fernando will be a great driver.

I don't get it. Pedro isn't that young anymore. Why does he refuse a seat at Minardi?
They will surely improve with this new owner. Pedro and Minardi in 2001 !!
